powder alternatives for 6.5prc and 127 lrx

OK, now I get your question…I dug up my records. I worked up from 56.5 gr in increments of 0.5 to eventually arrive at 60.0. I use Quickload for load development. If you don’t have it, I do recommend the investment.

powder alternatives for 6.5prc and 127 lrx

Hi CK, My starting load for the Hunter Hammer 124gr with new ADG brass was 60.0gr VV N565 @ 2.90 COAL. 210M Primers. After this fire forming I kept the same load and have been satisfied with the outcome. Joe

Barnes 50gr. TSX 5.56 powder choice

Ramshot TAC works, and meters well.

Anyone had problems loading ADG 6.5 PRC Brass?

The JGS 6.5 PRC AW 2 reamer does work to open up the base of the chamber just enough that standard dies work. I think this reamer also opens up the neck a bit to work better with thicker brass. It takes a couple of months to get the reamer, then you can do the cut by hand. There is so little...

I have basically stopped tipping, and its paying off.

Tips are for those who actually participate in making your ‘experience‘ better than average. Counter service? Nope. 7-11? Nope. Tip jars? Nope. Sit down service where they clean tables, polish silverware and glasses, make sure your food is right before throwing it on the table, give you an...

    Gunsmithing Orange Vise/Area419 Collab

Not. Even Orange is out a few months. Website says 4 weeks, but via phone it’s more like three months. Apparently there’s an issue with an external vendor/process. I ordered in February and am told maybe early June. That’s what happens when your product is exceptional and word gets out.

    Gunsmithing Orange Vise/Area419 Collab

I agree. An orderly backorder for jaw kits only seems to make more sense than a happenstance ”lucky to get an email because I had the day off and wasn’t in a meeting” plan. Current plan seems more like a random lottery. But you do make the jaw kits! I know that I have no idea what your...

Sidearms & Scatterguns Favorite handgun type

Although I very much like P22X DA/SA, 1911’s, and Glocks, I just added a Walther PPQ striker-fired .45 to the group. Love at first bang! Not sure yet on reliability with only ~500 rds on the odometer, but very nice cap gun. Natural POA is better for me than Glocks, more in line with a 1911 or...

    Woodworking and furniture rant

Back when this shit-show began, I think the companies, like Pottery Barn, who were getting their ass kicked with returns for ‘blemishes’ decided to make blemishes a coveted feature. From there it was all downhill. Craftsmanship, professionalism, and giving a shit took a back seat to ‘sell that...

    Gunsmithing Orange Vise/Area419 Collab

Agreed. If we can get the Orange Vise with a 4-6 week lead, and buy a readily available jaw kit, that’s win win win!!! C’mon 416, get to cuttin the jizzle kits!

    6.5PRC Vihtavuori

I probably could push for more, but was starting to see some pressure signs on ADG brass, so stepped back to this load. I am using a GAP chamber in a short action.

    Sidearms & Scatterguns Holster recommendation

Garrett’s STX 2.0 works well as an OWB under a shirt, pullover or jacket, and they have some good IWB options. Their leather lined kydex is primo.

    Barrel Soaker

No lead, but get some stubborn carbon buildup in the chamber of the .45s. I don’t go for squeaky clean, but soak for an hour or two then push some patches through. That and a few passes with a nylon brush gets most of the carbon out of the grooves, 9mm or 45. Reloads with Vihtavuori don’t need...

    Barrel Soaker

Made a barrel soaker for 9mm and 45acp barrels in a block of solvent proof/resistant plastic. Works without wasting much Boretech or Patchout. Drill press, forstner bits and a chisel…voila! I need to make a cover and a base to keep it from tipping.

    6.5PRC Vihtavuori

I’ve had good success with Hunter Hammer 124gr solids with N565 in a 24” Proof barrel. Running close to 3100fps in a short action. These were four cold bore shots which stacked up pretty good:

    Your favorite OWB leather holster

Check out Garrett Holsters leather lined OWB options. Slightly less bulk than full leather, but leather lined for quiet/smooth draw. The sweat shield is a good add-on. Garrett OWB STX 2.0

    Homesteading: sloped land or flat?

    Homesteading: sloped land or flat?

USDA Web Soil Survey site has good data on soils. Interview some local well drillers for info on where there may or may not be good water and at what depths.

    Recommend a Folder Chassis

It may not suit your eye, but it meets your dual use requirement. I don’t know of any other folding chassis that go that light and that heavy. And it looks/feels better in the hand than online. At least that’s what she said. Magnesium 3.0 or 4.0 with carbon buttstock for hunting, then the...
