Gunsmithing Gunsmith said this about installing a Tikka prefit

The trick is a mallet to give it a bit of shock, just trying to lever it off doesn't work as well.

Gunsmithing Gunsmith said this about installing a Tikka prefit

I've pulled or helped pull five tikka barrels, a couple took some persuasion with a tap of a mallet. None were terribly difficult, though a couple did get marred a bit, but nothing significant. Between a buddy and myself we've also put on 5 prefits, amazingly they all head spaced correctly...

This thread is still going, not surprising since Redneck is part of it.

Shooting Squirrels in the Head at 100 Feet Offhand...Fantasy or Reality?

I don't know, 50 yard headshots on a squirrel doesn't seem that hard. Used to cut weed stems and knock berries off trees with my benjamin 20 cal off hand at 15 yards all the time when I was growing up. I was shooting stuff off a tree from my apartment that backed up to an open area when my...

    6.5 PRC build and action

How much heavier? Difference between the NBK vs lone peak Ti is 10.5 oz. So about the weight of a small bottle of water.

First Precision Bolt Gun: Bergara B14 HMR vs Tikka T3X Lite

Tikka over the bergara, I have both, but you should get a heavier barrel on the tikka, CTR or varmint. 300 yards get a .223, otherwise the 6.5, more options for good ammo with the 6.5

Vudoo empty chamber indicator - looking for advice on which one

I use these on my begara 22 and centerfire rifles, you can use the 22 version in a centerfire but not the other way around. https://www.yow-tech.com/product-page/mag-flag-vudoo-v-22-aics

    Fierce Rifles Quality and Accuracy

It would have to be a killer deal, at the prices listed on their site I could put together a custom action, carbon barrel and stock for less. And I'm sure it would be better, and cheaper.

    Fierce Rifles Quality and Accuracy

After their demo of the new 7 PRC on an Elk I'd never buy a rifle from the company. Shot the animal at long distance just because they could. Drive down a dirt road, pull over and shoot an elk over 1000 yards to make a video. Didn't make a good shot IMO, needed a followup anyway. Poor ethics

3.3-18 Burris XTRIII, Eurooptic has a good price on them.

To those who say lower cost guns aren't "accurate"..

I had one in 6.5 CM, over 2500 rounds down the barrel and it still shoots great, as good as any other rifle I own. Kept waiting for it to start shooting poorly but it hadn't happened. Sold it to a friend lcheap to start learning, he's still shooting it.

To those who say lower cost guns aren't "accurate"..

Don't think I've every heard that cheaper rifles like Savages aren't accurate. In fact that is seldom disputed. It's the smoothness, extraction, etc, that sets the nicer actions apart, not the accuracy. My original savage I bought for learning long range is still just as accurate as my custom...

Rifle Scopes So I bought a “Just As Good”, Burris XTR3

I like my all of my Cronus scopes, I have three, but the Burris 3-18 is is really good too, especially at that price. I have the 3-18 with the SCR reticle and the 5.5-30 with the SCR2 reticle. I'd say the XTRIII vs the Cronus is close in glass, XTR has a wider view, reticle is good in both, I...

    Savage elite precisión 300 prc

While I liked my savages when I started, I only have one left. They were accurate, just not as refined. These days I'd buy and action, a prefit barrel and trigger, put it in stock or chassis of your choice.

    7-6.5 PRC

That's why my 6.5 PRC is on a tikka action. Just didn't see the point in the 7mm 162 over the 156 that works without having to expand the brass to 7mm for what I think isn't a better bullet. If you're going 7mm, I'm going to load 180's.

    7-6.5 PRC

I don't understand why a medium or long action makes a difference in this case. The 156 is longer than the 162, I understand that either one would need to be shortened to less than maximum length to fit in a SA mag. But if I'm going to expand a 6.5 PRC case to 7mm I would be looking to run a...
