Watch Out for Scammers!
We've now added a color code for all accounts. Orange accounts are new members, Blue are full members, and Green are Supporters. If you get a message about a sale from an orange account, make sure you pay attention before sending any money!
I did mine the first time and went like a piece of cake with frosting on it. Simple pimple. Think I made like two adjustments for both and was done. Using box Hornady 168AMAX ammo and using the built in come ups on the elevation turret and was spot on the money at 400 yards. Maybe I was just...
Twist has nothing to do with it. The only thing where the twist is important is that it is fast enough to stabilize the bullets you are shooting. You can shoot the 155's thru an 11 twist or a 10 twist and will be just fine. Your spin drift might be a tad more than a 12 twist but that's going...
Well then I'll say we rule out the barrel and scope. Unless you have muzzle crown damage (double check the edge of the crown)... which could effect accuracy but won't effect your SD's... then it's something mechanical going on somewhere....but what? I'm running both a 308win and a 6.5CM...
Got it! Just need to rule stuff out one thing at a time. So.... how many rounds on the barrel? How many rounds fired in between cleanings? Any fouling issues with the barrel? If your SD's are that low and velocity is consistent I'll say no but have to ask.
The deposit... I get that and makes sense and I wouldn't do it any other way. The next question to answer is time frame? If you have enough of a commitment and deposits for the orders... when would the run get started and a rough guess when it would be done? I think that would help guys with...
Is the POI changing at short range also? Try a different scope? Long range... what are the light, environment conditions? Was it just that one day or is it doing it on different days? Wind... tail wind, head wind?
I/we are not a fan of prefits. Main reason is the actions vary tolerance wise along with the bolt. Even if you have a +/-.002” tolerance on the actions and bolts… you take the barrel the opposite way for headspace (even though it technically is in spec) and the action goes the other way.. I...
I'll say parkerized from what I've seen. Also the original barrels where made out of chrome moly steel and not stainless steel. The c.m. will take the parkerizing.... stainless won't. The replacement barrel(s) we've made Mr. Land was c.m. steel, 6 groove and 10 twist.
So I got another original take off M40a1 barrel. I got this from Maj Land. So the barrel is legit. So to go back to Ryan's barrel first for comparison below this is what again that one measured...... I was supplied a real early M40A1 barrel made by Atkinson (assuming mid to late 70's from Ryan...
LOL! I actually seen that video before. That was an awesome post! Not sure if he twisted the tool steel far enough to make sure it's a proper 1-10 twist for his barrel? ;) Love his left over shredded rag... and lapping compound to smooth out the bore also! His barrel blank only had a...
