I'm looking at putting a 30mm scope on a Tikka T3 - Any recommendations on scope bases or rings? It's a bit of a hybrid, .308 out to 800, but I'd like lightweight and tough.

The factory Tikka rings appear to only come in 1" - But I noticed murphy precision has a rail that would allow use of regular rings.

Looking for a tough, lightweight solution for a 30mm scope tube on a T3, price is secondary to reliability and weight.

Thanks in advance,
m

Hi don,t know if this helps - but here we go.

I own a Tikka and have used both scopes with a 50 mm obj. and a scope with a 56 mm obj. On the 50 mm scope (Vortex Viper PST) I used a EWG 20 MOA basa and Vortex PMR rings. A great combo. Changed scopes (to a Nightforce NXS) and had to change rings to, went with Nightforce rings. This is so recent that I have no comment on the rings, but think that I'm OK based on reviews :)

I also have a Sako and on that rifle I'm using the Sako/Tikka bases and rings (Optilock). Don't know if that is easy to get in the US but you will not be dissapointed with a setup like that.

Depends on which scope objective you have, for a 50mm Warne has the Tikka Med rings that attach right to the receiver. Has an integrated recoil pin in the front ring. I have used Burris dual bases and you can use any ring you want.

Lightweight and tough, DNZ, they have them over at sportsmans in Loveland. They are not the most handsome rings, but are the lowest rings I could find for my 33mm obj scope.

What size scope you using?
