So last year i sold my ARC CDG and PVA barrel to help fund an ar-10 project. Work is looking better so i may revisit that project. I found 5 actions under 1k i'm considering.

Obviously the CDG for 899, not sure if my mil discount can apply, if it does that'd be 809. Zermatt Origin is an obvious mention. MAc Bros Evo II which i can get for 725 with discount. Defiance Classic which Red hawk rifles and altus sells for around 999 i believe. And Finally brownells has the kelbly atlas tactical for 999, with various 10% codes that goes down to 900.

Of those actions mentioned, for PRS, target shooting, maybe some hunting, but mostly just shooting for enjoyment, which would ya'll choose and why?

Arc cdg and the new dasher mag from sac looks to be a big winner. Only negative on the cdg is it kicks brass forward and there have been issues with the extractor. Just wait a bit and I’m sure cdg version 4.5 will be out.

SAC came out with a mag too?

CDG or a zermat origin.
That’s kind of where I’m going because I like controlled round feed despite what some Youtubers may have against it. I actually really like it. And I know that both of them are readily available for tenon prints. I’ve never heard anything bad about any of these actions, so it basically comes down to what features I want. I’ve never handled any of them in an actual rifle, just my old CDG, and I just handled it in my hand without being in a chassis or a stock.

correct. br family only.
Gotcha! I will say this, I really wish somebody would come out with a magazine that functions the same as the AW and is made for the AW cut, but has more than 10 rounds or has the ability to put a base plate on it. Basically the gray ops Magazine but 2.850 cartridge overall or something like that.

I’m not necessarily worried about swapping out a bolt face. I’m just going to stick with the 308 bolt face. I’m mostly just going to utilize the cartridge that I ran when I competed in PRS back in 2016-2019. I ran a David Tubb spec 6xc, Manson reamer. I mostly used Norma brass, but I did get some Peterson brass and unfortunately I ended up selling all that off but I have some dies from 2022 Because I was thinking about picking it back up with the latest revisions of everything. The one stop shop worked for me eight years ago, so I’m going to go that route again, so I’m just going to have my Smith spin me up a barrel. So I’m not necessarily worried about prefits.

The problem with the Origin, in the prs game, is that you can't single load quickly in the event you need to send another round down range after emptying the mag.
I would look at the Mack or even solus over the origin for that reason
Did they fix the feel of the solus? I tried a friend rifle, and that thing felt really clunky. I was not a fan.

Don’t overlook the Aero Solus action. Pick them up when they go on sell for less than $650 to your FFL. They are really good actions even at the list price but why pay it.

Yes you can. I did it twice this past weekend at a match where I needed more than my 12 round mag.

You're not worried about bolt faces and prefits until you are. Just trying to help you out with my experiences but your money.

You sure can with a LA Origin at least. Works just like a push feed. Throw a round on the mag and run the bolt.

I do this all of the time with my Origin and TL3. 6.5 Creed and Dasher. Single feeding is not an issue

I think the ones that I tried were the first run of them, and they felt really stiff and a little gritty.
They must have corrected this issue when they corrected the headspace issue early on. I had a LA CDG action that I sold and have a buddy that has an Origin action that I used plenty. I have a couple Solus actions now and they are as good as any of the ones mentioned and many that I’ve owned that costs much more. You really can’t go wrong with any of them.

That’s good to hear. I like the overall design. Of my friends wanted to buy one initially, because outside of not having a fluted bolt, he said it looked just like an impact🤣 but in the first run, they felt far far far from being an impact

There is a member in the exchange that sells them for $650 shipped. He has plenty. I paid $630 during Aero’s big sale after I stacked a coupon code on top.

You can get single shot TL3s which should be basically the same as the Origin with CRF. 4 of my TL3s are single shot with no problems feeding.

Hard to beat the origin, it's feature rich and proven. Definitely past a flavor of the month action. I wanted bolt face adaptability do I chose it. Nice you can use a savage barrel to if ever needed. I'd really like to try out a kelbly for a future build though.

Aero Solus, ARC CDG, Zermatt Origin, all are good options.
