That's God's way of saying we should keep our eyesore garbage off of the beautiful landscape he created. Southern Minnesota is riddled with them.

As if the wind farms weren't bad enough, we got a couple in my AO about five years ago. The latest addition to the green initiative in my area are a couple good size solar farms.

Pisses me off to see what was once good farmland or cattle land now just blanketed with solar panels.

That's not very motivational so here's a picture of the next generation.

Have never drunk a latte, my coffee of choice is a very strong, black 8 oz mug, I have not found the secret code to ordering that when away from home so stick to ordering Bourbon....
When I was flying a lot for work, I often flew red eye flights late at night or butt crack of dawn early to avoid crowds. Wanting something decent for coffee, I’d order a medium cup of dark coffee with an added shot of espresso. The other crap wasn’t palatable.

yes you are being a armchair qb, he used what he had to stop her from injuring another person, you show up with a shotgun, it only escalates faster and more violently
I asked the question, meaning whether a shotgun with beanbag could be an alternative. But I can see your point that a shotgun in hand might escalate faster. If all you have at your disposal is a choice between a taser and a handgun - with a crazy person running at you with two knives slashing - the handgun is the only answer. I never questioned the LEO’s decision.

Correct. This country does a very poor job with mental illness.
However most of that is by design.
Agreed. Almost every developed nation in the world has government mental institutions. Incompetence and corruption led to all of ours being shut down, but they should have been either reformed, or restarted from scratch. The libertarian/historian in me knows that like all government power they can be abused, but they’re a necessary evil. Many of these people could be helped in an institutional setting, but even the ones who can’t shouldn’t just be running around loose. I know because my brother-in-law is a schizophrenic vagrant with drug and gambling addictions. He belongs in an institution. There are thousands of people walking around who are just

We need to reconstitute the state mental institutions. That is one of the few expenditures of tax dollars that actually makes sense and is in the interests of the public. Plenty of shit to shut down to pay for it.
HOWEVER, once it gets to the armed, violent, threatening, and insane public behavior the cops are the only ones I’d send. Who do you suggest sending?

I can’t help but wonder if this mental health crisis is by design.

I’m wondering if the official government position might be that every Trump voter needs to be institutionalized? You KNOW that’s what they would like to see!

Or, more likely, the progressives/socialists/leftists in power see it as a way to "engineer" more of a momentum towards socialism. This, in the same way they are downplaying all the crime etc and allowing that to increase geometrically and, of course, everyone being priced out of the economy, etc. What's the only way to stop all of this? Why, "socialism" of course! Hell, that will even combat "Climate change!"

Like most issues it’s a combination of course.

But just by the numbers

Us population ww2 about 145mil

Us population today 320-330 mil

That’s more than 2x the people in the same land mass

Minimum that 2x the crazies if there are no other factors involved

Then add in life is a fuck of a lot harder now than ever before. Maybe not in physical labor for certain jobs but everything else is so much harder and more stressful.

Then add in we have TV/news social media that allows us to see everything happening immediately.

In 1960 If some crazy guy shot his wife and the police killed him in Texas, NYC never even heard about. Maybe not even the city or town Nextdoor.

Now it’s on your phone in 25 minutes, so not only are there “more” but we hear about it too. Which makes it seem like 10x.

And 100% I agree mental institutions should be the opened. Big govt sucks at most things but something like mental institutions they excell at.

The problem is that any citizen that does the same as a cop being charged by a 2 knife crazy is in legal trouble. Why call a cop? Bam! Bam! Next time control your crazy…. Setting up a special group as the only “adults” in society is the problem.

And 100% I agree mental institutions should be the opened. Big govt sucks at most things but something like mental institutions they excell at.

But then you'll have all the "bleeding heart" Libtard media people get on the networks about the "deplorable" conditions in all those institutions. Remember Geraldo Rivera's exposé on Willowbrook Mental Hospital in NY State? He actually snuck back into the facility when the management wasn't expecting them, just to show the "real" conditions.

Still, I think we really have to redefine/reset what mental illness is. If we're talking people who definitely have some sort of chemical or neurological deficiency, that's one thing. The classic mental facility might be the place for them. But the major problem I think are people who, just simply, were not raised properly to have strong moral values, a sense of "right from wrong," and feel it's OK to use violence by any means to achieve their objectives or make themselves known to the world. I'm not sure I'd call those types of people, "mentally ill." I'd call them "socially depraved" or something like that. They ain't dumb, stupid, crazy, etc in a "clinical" sense. They know how to achieve their goals. They just think it's OK to use violence as a tool to achieve them. They know how to keep "under the RADAR" until they can execute their plan(s). For these people, I think the "hole" in a standard Prison facility will work well. But they have to be committed to that at the onset. Not after they've been let go a couple of times and are available to wreak havoc. But then, the defense lawyers will work like crazy to get them free. And that's the other problem.

I think lawyers/parents, etc., if they know (or should know) that a client (or child) of there's is, thus, socially depraved, or maybe even mentally ill, It's their responsibility to get them to the right facility for treatment. And they should be held criminally liable if they ignore their client/child's behavior and that child/client subsequently commits a violent crime.
