PH M85

Hi,

What we did was design our own one off custom reticles and then we sendt the drawing on paper to Pecar in Berlin. Pecar then made the reticle as a one off and returned a custom reticle that we could install ourself.
I now made a priciple sketch showing the reticle I used. The sketch is NOT to scale. Rifle was zeroed at 300m with the center dot between the posts. The "bdc-dots" below the centerline were scaled to "fit" a russian helmet at the respective range. On a shootingrange with popup targets to 7 - 800m it was, as I said in the previous post, match correct bdc-dot to helmet size, move dot to center mass and bang. With a popup target at unknown range and direction, with a display time of app 5 seconds, there is no way you have time to dial a scope. Even more so if you have popup tagets appearing at different ranges simultaniously with 10 - 15 seconds display time.

This kind of reticle is not the most accurate, but you can actually fire a round at a target. With a dialing scope, which is much more accurate, or a grid pattern scope, you do not have enough time to shoot. I know, because we did this in competitions.

It's important to note that the popup targets had electronic scoring and hits were recorded instantly.
One stage in a squad match could be "squad in defence" and targets started to pop up at 600m+ and then appeard closer and closer. All hits were recorded for the whole squad kitted with a MG and M72s for a close range tank popup target. There was even tankclatter in speakers :)

In the meantime, I could not yet find the mentioned article in the DWJ-Deutsches Waffen-Journal, sorry.. .

But I can post now the best accuracy-result of the also before mentioned VISIER-Test: this PH M85 with S+B-Scope 6x42 with Special-Reticle 2 reached with Norma 168 gr HPBT-Match 5 shots within 13 mm at 100 Meters. Very accurate IMHO..
