What did they do recently? I allowed my membership to expire because I feel they've been too willing to "compromise". I'm of the opinion that we've "compromised" too much and we need to reverse some of the course. 1986 should've been the last of it. And even that makes me sour.

Wow I stopped supporting them a while back but now I am glad or at least relieved. Hope they (NRA) get everything figured out.

I joined GOA

Still like CRPA in california

Hickok has never been political... I am not sure that I want to keep supporting duck owners who will agree to ban everything more than a 3 shot shotgun or a 6 shot revolver.... if you are into gun, I fell you need to be a bit political

Keep the infighting, soon the Dems will take em all away. Am not happy with the state of the NRA, but also live in a country where there was no NRA and they aint got much guns anymore. Think about it.

That’s exactly what I used to say. Then the NRA-ILA supported the most unAmerican bullshit I can think of— in clear violation of the Constitution— and it occurred to me that they’d be willing to make any concession.

All of our resources can be put to better use.

Congratulations... you guys are turning on The one most effective organization at securing the 2a because they have lost some battles and given some ground.

They win 10x more than they compromise.

So by withdrawing your support, you are doing exactly what the left wants. Splitting into tribes... the tactical shooters will be against the hunters... the duck hunters with their harmless shotguns will be against the deer hunters with their evil sniper rifles... handguns have no sporting purpose...

Give it a rest. We need every bulwark against the assault on our Constitution. The left is handing out money like candy. 7 billionaires are controlling the agenda for 400 million in the USA alone.

So, wahhhh, lost on a few small things. But we need to be giving to and STARTING more advocacy groups every day. Not balkanizing and breaking up into little whiny tribes over minutiae. That’s Bloomberg’s strategy... too many people are falling for it.

After many decades of unbroken membership, I finally dropped the NRA. I wrote separate letters to both the national and state organization asking about their stance on trigger groups for AR15's...specifically mentioning that I was NOT asking about bump stocks. Neither group even gave me a form letter saying something like "thank you for writing, we are considering your question", and never getting back to me.

Even a letter to a senator, congressman, state representative, or other elected official will usually get me a polite letter thanking me for writing, but completely avoiding the question.

Neither NRA group responded in any manner, even though both letters included my name, address, and even my NRA membership number and mentioning that I had been a member for many decades without ever a lapse in membership.

I can be ignored by plenty of people and groups for free. I darned sure aren't going to send money to a group so they can ignore too. Why pay to be ignored when I can get ignored for free? I am no longer a member.

Guys, the left is attacking guns on all fronts. They're dividing and conquering. The other gun organizations may be better but the NRA is our loudest and best voice that the left is afraid of.

I may not like or agree with everything the NRA does but no other organization even comes close to money and funding. We have to stick together as gun owners.

an agreement or a settlement of a dispute that is reached by each side making concessions.

This means both get something they want. The NRA’s idea of compromising is getting to keep a fraction of what the left is trying to take away. They never try and get back any or part of the rights that have compromised away. The amount of money and power they command they should have every gun law on the books in the process of being repealed not just fighting to keep what we have left.

When the left says they want things like universal background checks and XX day waiting periods nationwide, the conversation should be that if we give you get all or part of that, then we get full auto and suppressors off the nfa, and it goes to a normal 4473 and a xx day wait.

You give a little piece of the pie away without getting a slice of cake in return, your going to end up sitting all by yourself with nothing to eat.

This whole "lesser of two evils" and the idea that the NRA is our best option, is exactly the reason the the NRA has conducted itself irresponsibly recently. People tend to do whatever they want when there is no other competition around.

I respect the decision that people have made to stay with the NRA. I do realize they have done great things. I do not agree with a lot of their recent antics and how they have been caving under pressure.

There needs to be alternatives. Join the GOA. Do something productive with your hard earned money.

No more compromises. That's weak. Why do we have to compromise on a right that the framers found important enough to write into our founding document? Gain ground. That's my side of the fence.

I agree. I get pissed at the NRA, but it remains a very important part of the fight. The Left is overjoyed at the division in the gun community.

Yeah exactly . We pay lobbyists who contribute to candidates . Instead of c9mprom8se it's paying someone to surrender for you .

Friends of the NRA is a great program from the NRA foundation. Jumping off the NRA ship...ok fine but please keep giving to the Friends of theNRA.

Friends puts tons of money into youth shooting programs...gun safety...4H...range improvements etc. through grants raised at banquets.

I will no longer support friends of the nra either. Their rep came to our club looking for us to run the local banquet. He promised us $13,000 for our range extension project. After reading their rules, I found that we do not qualify for friends of nra grants. He sold us a bill of goods. Not another penny from me.

So, wahhhh, lost on a few small things.

Small things like due process? Freedom from illegal search and seizure? The ability to face my accuser? Presumed innocence? Forgive me for thinking that’s a pretty big fuckin deal.

Endorsement of the abandonment of the bill of rights is unforgivable and the NRA can eatadick.

I agree with Sirhr here. Join the GOA for sure, but don't stop supporting the NRA the first time they have an issue. They have been the most powerful gun lobby in Washington for most of our lives, and they are the ones everyone's afraid of. You guys are buying right into the lefts plan by abandoning the NRA. The GOA is a great organization and more hardlined and I like them for that, but still not the NRA yet.
I support both and I feel it's important to do so.

How I view it is:
(1)if we continue to support the nra, they will continue to do the same things they are currently doing

(2) if we don’t continue to support the nra, it will definitely force a change

I’m not smart enough to know what is More likely help secure 2nd Amendment rights

I’ve always supported the nra my entire adult life but the thing that I am having a hard time with is seemingly no results with a repub controlled house and senate for two years. It’s just hard to see how that is good enough to keep things the way they are
