I am less concerned about how they got accepted for employment as I am about how they rose to lead their agencies.
That's where the stink of corruption really emanates. The problem is not about how they answered the question, it's about who and how that answer was judged acceptable. There had to already be a fifth column active in those agencies, and they had to already be in position as gatekeepers.
Who made those decisions to hire them?
Who made the decisions to promote them all the way to the top?
That's the history lesson to be teaching our children.
McCarthy may have been right, but he was also a pompous, ludicrous fool and became the willing idiot who enabled the dismissal of any who might have picked up his sword and continued the fight against the fellow travelers.
That was on of the key moments when the Swamp gained its ascendancy.
There was that time when the Cold War began and many who had firmly embraced the Russians as allies in WWII realized that they already had key positions in this government which must be preserved for the sake of their 'former' allies.
When you look at when and how McCarthy 'self destructed', it's not so hard to see the hidden hands that helped him straight down that path.
If you want to destroy the rest of your own life and that of your family and friends; reach for that sword. That's something the Swamp is watching for, always.
Remember, the enemy of your enemy is just another enemy who is simply befriending you for their own reasons in order to benefit that other moment a bit further down the road when they already intend to spring that trap on you. That trap is what's going on in Congress these days, and it's not so hard to recognize the hand of the real Russian interference therein.
The Big Lie, wherein one accuses one's opponent of that most egregious thing which one does oneself and cannot conveniently explain away. Speak the Lie loud enough and often enough and it becomes indistinguishable from the truth.
We have failed to observe and anticipate this outcome.
But that's OK, because failure is the great educator. It's now time to employ this lesson.
Hindsight is 20/20, but only if you're actually looking.
It's time to
water that tree.
