• Watch Out for Scammers!

We've now added a color code for all accounts. Orange accounts are new members, Blue are full members, and Green are Supporters. If you get a message about a sale from an orange account, make sure you pay attention before sending any money!

Interesting... there has to be a story here (though I won't be so gauche as to ask what it is); per the LRI website, PTG was the primary source of your reamers.

Hopefully you'll be able to quickly find another source for what you need.

From what I used derstand, quality control has taken a turn for the worse.

Yep. That's pretty much what I posted to LRI's FB version of this announcement. The have fallen quite a bit in their products and service over the past several years.

Makes me wonder if Chad is just going to start making reamers himself...not a bad thing at all in my mind.

It’s always true, you want something done right, do it yourself.

Notice:

From this day forward LRI will no longer order any tooling or parts sourced from Pacific Tool and Gauge.

Customer supplied tooling/parts will still be used with the understanding that any/all issues originating from it are the clients sole responsibility.

Please make a note.
Agreed! I haven’t ordered a reamer from them in years. I still use one of there recoil lugs every now and then but reamers are from Manson or JGS.

I like Manson for reamers. Not sure if he'll do your fancy carbide stuff.

PTG I think has been a dumpster fire of a business for a while. From everything I've seen on the net, it might make for some History/Discovery channel reality TV.

Jibes with my experience with PTG. Too bad they don't care enough to fix their problems. Don't waste your time writing or calling Kiff, unless you like listening to crickets.

i love my carbide reamers, cut like butter!

I placed an order for a couple of strait & threaded bolt handles a few weeks ago. With the negativity of this thread I'm wondering if I will ever see them.

I take it that Manson or clymer can make a .30-06 Serengeti reamer? It’s not proprietary to PTG? Also does anyone else make one piece bolts for the 700 as a stand alone item besides PTG? I’m Just trying to get a plan of action for my next build.

mackbros?

If you can provide a print, it can certainly be made. Clymer? I don't think they even make piloted bushing reamers- only solid- don't they?

Do you know where else to get quality range rods and bushings?

Any reason you want range rods? Long stem indicator has worked better and more consistent for me than range rods.

JGS makes bushings for their reamers, never used Manson but I'd be a little suprised if they didnt.

Range rods are easier to get the barrel close then switch to the long stem indicator to finish at least for me.

Don’t forget JGS.

I spoke with a clymer rep at SHOT a few years ago. Maybe their stuff works, but it sure seemed to me like they didn’t care for special order stuff.

I use range rods to get it close before I go to my long indicator. Get it within a thou then switch, makes things faster for me.

These guys are making a really nice aftermarket 700 bolt. I went to there booth at show show this year. Comes complete, don’t need to buy each piece seperatly. Price is great also! https://macbros.com/remington-700-bolt-upgrade/

The only carbide reamers I use (and know of) are JGS. Man they are expensive but if your doing a lot of that cartridge then it’s worth it. I have a lot of Manson reamers also, great tools!

Been trying for two years to get the reamer print for my PTG 243 reamer.
Dave said he sent it to my email at least three times. I asked which one because he has neither.
