Anyone know anything about this?

This seems like something they should have leaned into heavier rather than moving away from.

It's a 4x erector when everyone else is doing erectors up to 10x.
They have the new LHT.

There was a recentish thread about this topic.

@Glassaholic (who has been notably absent lately) had some insider information that suggested it was far from dead and wouild likely see new models on the medium future.

The Vortex website says "limited distribution" which one could assume means they are still producing it but concerntrating more on other models that are selling better (cheaper models).

I had a AMG serviced recently. I was told by a Vortex rep that its discontinued and it would be better to get my service done sooner than later. I tried to get more info and he clearly had more but he couldn't tell me.

Yikes…

So what happens in the future for AMG owners if they have a problem with the scope that needs repaired?

That depends on what Vortex has decided to do as far as end of program support. You'll have to ask them to know for sure.

Some programs are ended with no intention of supporting products in the field. Component inventory and tooling are scrapped and written off. Anything returned under warranty is scrapped after giving the customer a similar replacement option from current products.

Some programs have support limited to on hand parts inventory. As those parts are depleted, more and more failures are deemed unrepairable and the customer is offered a replacement item from current products.

Some programs are fully supported for X number of years after production ends. This isn't typical with mid to low grade consumer products.

Has Vortex ever let their customers down? They built their rep on customer support and AMG customers will be supported.
I am just sure Vortex will do right by their customers. It's their whole "thing" they built their company on. They wi reach a scope when you run over the thing with your truck or goodness sake.

I asked on one of their YouTube podcasts:
- Any plans for future AMGs? A 6-30x56, 4-20 or 3-15x50 may be a little more challenging with the 5x, but sure would get a following.

Their reply:
We'd love to do future AMG's! But can't say much more than that at this time :)

They’ve been hush, hush about this for almost a year now. The few statements I’ve heard from Vortex employees that should know is the product should be well received, we’ll see. I‘ll echo what others have said, their Customer Service has been second to none. AMGs are assembled in US as compared to the others.

If there is something new in the near future I hope it drops soon.
Looking to buy an XTR3 with illumination when/if it comes out the end of the month.

A new Razor/AMG would certainly be something to consider as an alternative.

AMG 3-18x would be nice. My favorite scope to date is the Razor HD Gen 2 3-18x but would love to shave off some of the weight. ZCO dropping a MOA reticle in the 4-20x is on my waitlist too. We’ll see what comes first. I have a bunch of precision rifles and i want one scope with the same reticle on all of them.

The 6-24 is a great scope. I wouldn’t sell mine even if they came out with a new one. At 6x I can see deer through it before legal light. And the FOV is huge on 6x. Better than a 5-25 Schmidt or NF. They really hit the mail on the head with that scope. A 3-18 or 4-20 of the same scope would be awesome for the guys wanting a bit more FOV. For me if you’re using this type of rifle scope you’re generally taking shots more than 100 yards (FOV is adequate for sure on 6x) and looking for lightweight which the AMG is. The glass nearly compares to my Schmidt’s as well for way less cost and a way better warranty. Excited to see what vortex comes out with but my “Gen 1” is staying on my main hunting rifle.

Yeah I love my AMG as well. It's just an ideal package for my 223 bolt gun. I love the reticle too. I won't ever sell that scope, I may end up one day selling my other higher priced scopes for something else, but I won't be selling that amg.

A 4-20 with a good FOV and locking turrets would be the shiz.

If they reduced the weight of the Gen 2 Razor they could likely do away with the AMG to simplify inventory.

I know the intended market for the Gen 2 Razor doesn't care about weight but it's easy to add weight to PRS rifle but hard to remove it from a cross over/hunting rifle.
The 3-18 Razor would make a sweet cross over scope at 28oz, being 46oz makes it a complete non-starter.

In the almost 3 years I've waited (November 2018) nothing has come up that has tickled my fancy, so have stuck with what I already had.

But a new Razor/AMG could definitely scratch that itch.

Same here. Love mine. If a new model drops secondhand 6-24 prices into the $1500 range, I will definitely be buying more.

I was going to type a response, but this hit the nail on the head for me. The AMG fills a great role as a (relatively) lightweight high end scope. I have 2 on hunting rifles and came across this thread because I was searching for another. I’ll probably wait though and see if a gen 2 or something else similar is released.
