Ok guys...had an extremely stupid moment while out shooting with my son. Was out having some fun with my kimber micro 9, then decided to get the 6.5 creed out and get some rounds through the new barrel.

Started off good hoping my son shoot the kimber, few shots all on target and the smile and happy dance was awesome. Went over and got the creed ready to shoot and put 5 rounds down the barrel. Loaded 5 more and let my son send them. Again nothing but smiles and an eagerness to learn more.

Well in my stupidity I was explaining how the thunderbeast works on the end of the barrel. I no more than explained to him that after firing the rifle, that the suppressor will get extremely hot. And what do I do while saying this.....instinctively grabbed the suppressor. The can had 15 rounds through it at fairly quick succession, so yeah that bastard was hot. Removed my hand quite quickly and shoved my hand into the soft soil we were shooting on. After a walk to the targets we were shooting, not before a detour to look at the standing water ( felt wonderful at this point ).

The target stump we were shooting at had all rounds on it, so again my son was as happy as I was proud of him.

While walking back the rifle he asked if my hand was ok. After telling him it was he proceeded to explain to me how stupid it was to touch something hot.

So now I have a nice skin graph on my can and currious as to how one would remove the skin without damaging anything.

Before I hear it...yeah I know stupid. But I am sure my son will never touch anything hot. So it was a good learning experience for him I guess

Be a good post to start, the stupid shit we have done with our suppressors. Mine was a 223a can on an sbr with bump fire stock. I remember how hot that sucker was and I only bumped with the underside of my arm, that soft skin just down from the arm pit, yes I still have the scar/brand.

Yup. Shoot it. It’s called “Ballistic Debridement”.

But seriously, good on ya for taking the kid out and teaching him About shooting.

Heat it back up and complete the new camo pattern all over the can. ;)

Pics!

This is what I thought when I read this....

Kind of hard to see, but looking now it isnt that bad.

The skin on my hand is like leather now and no pain at all

Lol.... i figured more than just myself have done this. So figured I would go ahead and make the example for others to NOT follow!

Hand is a little tender, but nothing to bad honestly. Deffenantly would not suggest others to do the same .....

I was in the middle of a carbine course when we we were doing some long strings of fire that had a lot of stowing thre rifle and bringing it back up. Well when i went to push the rifle out my hand reached to far and i grabbed the back of my suppressor instead of the rail/vert grip (10" cqbr). I now ALWAYS wear a glove.

I feel your pain.

Ouch...that sounds like it would hurt far worse than mine.

I was able to keep my hand out my truck window while driving, outside temp around 40°, then soaked for about 2 hours is cool water. Seemed to help quite a bit, though my ass got soar from sitting on my dining room chair. Lol
