Yes, but the barrel is a Schultz and Larsen heavy barrel; so much heavier than a standard CG 63 barrel, that the hand guard had to be ditched.

I was told that this was a popular upgrade for people who didn't want to replace their cg 63 when the new CG 80 came out. I have a CG 80 and it has an S&L barrel of very similar profile.

Many CG-80 rifles came with longer barrels too, with that said - ONLY difference in the FSR organization between CG-63 and CG-80 is stock. This is a very nice CG-63, from what I can tell. give it some range time. I found that Lapua Scenar bullets in the 120-130 range perform better in these kind of barrels, or at least for me. another important, in my shooting, aspect is to find an appropriately sized front globe insert. I prefer a so slight(white) halo around all black target. I have no problem shooting sub moa with diopters at 300m. I do have several G-Busk 1000m diopters which I have taken out to 800m with great results.

Was wondering why the hand guard was missing, makes sense. S&L have always been prominent in the Swedish market. It's high quality stuff. I have a CG63 action that I am converting into a CG637 7.62 Nato Sniper rifle. Very rare with a crazy looking side scope mount that I'm going to have a hard time replicating. Fun project though. Had some grief about an M96 action firing 7.62 Nato but to be fair there was a commercial version made for the English market and the Singapore Police ones were obviously 7.62 Nato.

That CG637 is interesting, never even heard of it. That scope looks unique too.

Here's my 3 Swedes, each are somewhat different. Middle is a CG-63 with a conversation date of 1969.

Woh!! That's some serious Gun Porn right there!! I thought I was a Swede fan but youz got the goods! I've owned about 12 of differing shades but mostly M96's and M38's or 96/38's. I inherited the CG63 action in a deal with a friend and have collected up all the parts for the CG637 Singapore Police build. I currently own two very nice M96's in military form. One has all matching numbers including the individual rear sight parts! The other is for an m/41B Sniper replica build. Looks to be an ex-FSR or other civilian Target rifle with non-matching numbers. The other is an almost exact replica of the m/41B and is a sweet shooter, mind you they nearly all have been. You must have fun shooting all those babies?! Thanks for sharing the Pic from another Swede lover.

Yes, that is correct. Its a Finnish Tikka in 6.5x55. I had a CG-80 but let it go to a collector of Swedish rifles who really wanted it, but wish I had replaced it.

Very nice! At one point My “dream” was to have 5 sets of AG/42b- Hakim- Rasheed. Accumulated 5-3-1, went thru caliber consolidation and got rid of all 8mm and 7.62x39, including our SKS collection...
We also have some interesting Jarmann, Rolling Blocks (unconverted at that) and Norwegian Krags...
If you need some slings, BTW, my wife is: 65x55llc on ebay, I think she still has about 2dozen left for sale (not sure if she has em listed right now or not)...

I'm a Swede, Swiss, Finnish, and U.S. A. collector, although I have a number of Enfield, South American, and what nots...

wooden bullet (training/imitation) ammo brass, usually 4 or 5 reload(last one) is Ljungman food, as I never finished tinkering with adjustable gas screw/block - as you know it nicks the shit out of the rim and tosses it 20yrds out :).
When Samco had wooden bullet ammo for practically nothing- I had a custom die manufactured to my spec and had over 30k cases of primed brass :) processed as i could pull wooden bullet and dump that powder at a rate of 1 case per 2.5seconds. I would tumble live (with wooden bullet) 800rds per 18lbs tumbler bowl before pulling bullets, so my brass looked better than virgin brass.

We still have a few unicorns, including a pair of M/28-76, special Mosin Sniper and a Sniper SVT-40(with a mount appraised 2.5x the rifle, crazy)...
Had a one of 200 SVD, sold it a week before Sandy Hook to purchase a museum grade M/41b... of course if I waited a week, I could have bought 3 mint snipers... water under the bridge now

I've got two 800 round packs of red wooden bullet 6.5x55 ammo packs that I bought from Samco back in the day for the same reason. I have, however, never found a satisfactory way of pulling the bullet. I've tried various ways, but the bullet usually just splinters. This special die you mention interests me. Can you tell me more?

I've tamed the extraction/ejection problem to some degree by using the same powder that I reload Garand ammo with--IMR 4064 or 4895. The only problem is the occasional flyer, which I attribute to not having the case nearly full (usually use a charge of around 35 grs of 4064).

Here are a few targets form my Ljungman shooting...

Hard to describe without you actually seeing it.
Spin/screw in and adjust die in a press. By adjusting, means that blades/grabbers do not engage brass on up-stroke. On upstroke bullet gets into blades/grabbers(internally tent positioned with spring assist). As you go down-stroke- wooden bullet is grabbed/engaged by the blades/grabber and can’t travel downwards in a die(originally it was like a wire-cutter inside and was cutting wood; redesigned where there was non sharp bevel(half-moon) on both grabber petals, so even fully closed it still had ~5mm opening) so case with powder comes down and bullet stays in a die. Because no downward force applied- bullet still can easily go upwards direction. So a 8mm hole was drilled on top - result = next bullet just pushed a previous one from the top. Powder is very similar to unique, so that was also reused by my FIL for his cast reloading/shooting. After being tumbled for a week, red paint was gone- so wooden bullets made good kindling for an outdoor firepit/fireplace.

Boy, that sounds great.

Who made that up for you? Do you reload those cases and if so, how do you deprime them?

Local tool and die machinist. I deprime berdan via hydraulic method. Mechanical decapping tool works too, however will damage nipple if not careful and precise.

Wow...that collection of sights is as impressive as you rifle collection...almost ;)

I like the GF too. Had/have multiple Vasteras, FRAMs, Elit, Elite, Soderin, but never the SM55 or 65's. I think I've bought something off you before on eBay? Certainly no shortage of stuff at yours (pretty jealous). Got my first M96/38 (Carl Gustaf) when I was 15 years old (birthday present). Then my next was a sporterised Husqvarna that shot a lot of game and the eye out of needles. And then after that it was all over, had the bug and fell in love with the Swedes and 6.5x55. I see now that the bug gets some people pretty bad (or good) looking at you guy's collections.

Here's a cpla M96's. The bottom one is mine and the top one with the delicious woodwork is my good friend's who is looking after mine in New Zealand (might become mine one day). Once the Covid thing is settled down I'll be heading back over from Australia to collect the last of my guns. It's taken me three international missions to date to bring the majority home. I have a lot of builds on the go of Sniper rifle replicas. 2x L42A1's, 2x L39A1 'Enforcer's, An M48 Yugo/Zrak, No.4 Mk 1 (T), No.1 Mk3 (HT), Winchester P14 (No.3 Mk.1) (T), K98k, M91/41 Carcano, Gew98, IDF K98k, m/41B, PH M82, M40, SSG69, VZ24, on the look out for a tidy non-matching full length M95 (but getting scarcer), but many of them are only half completed. It's a lifetime project so no hurry, something always comes along.

Those are a pair of fine looking M96's, RS.

So, you are living in Australia now and slowly repatriating your rifles from NZ?

Yep, I've been living in Oz for about 8 years now. My rifles were being well looked after by two friends but one of them has recently been diagnosed with a rare type of Parkinsons disease and the other is in his late 70's and been through bowel cancer and recently a severe pneumonia and spinal abscess and he's gone from being very wirey and tough to very frail. They are both massive gun nuts and the earlier mentioned friend used to win matches against Semi-autos with his M1917 and he's left handed! They both had a tonne of semi-autos too until our government took them all off of us. The second guy bought his first Swede off me and got the bug and now owns a bunch in various forms including an S/L barrelled CG63 and that top one which is just beautiful IMHO. I need to collect the rest off him because he's so frail now that he might might not be long for this world and I am going to ask each of them if they will part with one rifle that I can remember them by. The first guy, Stuart, is an expert on Enfields and has his name as a contributor to Skennerton's book, the 'bible' of Enfields. He's promised me his NZ stamped Mk.1 Lee Enfield (Long Tom) which is what NZ soldiers carried into war in WW1 at Gallipoli. Ross, the second chap has a lot of the Swede accessories and that M96 which is what I will ask him for. They are both fantastic characters and such enthusiastic shooters and collectors and it's a shame I met them late in their lives as they are two of the most fun guys to go shooting with. I'm sure we all meet these sorts of guys through our lives, similarly minded and such relaxed company to be around especially out shooting as I'm sure I feel 20 years younger out on the range with my mates and positive they do too.

My sons and I shoot in a Vintage Military Rifle Silhouette Match and it is a great family activity. The match involves shooting 10 chicken silhouettes @ 220 yards, 10 pigs @ 330y, 10 turkeys @ 420y and 10 rams @ 550 y, using a pre-1945 design military rifle.

This is range we shoot the match on...

How do you like that Solderin sight? I need to find a new diopter for mine (FSR-89) and also a set of inserts for the front sight.

Added: I noted that when I put my cheek up against the buttstock on my FSR-89, my eyeball gets a little squished and it affects my aim. Tinkering around with it, I took the adjustable block completely out and found it wasn't so bad. So if it's adjusted as far out as you can get it, the only thing left to do is remove wood. I don't want to do that. Any ideas on how to get it adjusted to me?

I like the Soderin sight, but I think the Busk is considered a better sight. I've got a CG 80 which has a stock somewhat similar to the -89 and it came with a Busk. I have not noticed the problem that you are experiencing.

Honestly, though, you might want to check with KAIFS on this...he is the master, methinks.
