Is something going on in Ukraine?

this is about as "neutral" and realistic of a sitrep as you are going to get. the daily French military assessment of Ukraine. The Russians are making progress. Ukie claims about Kiev are not reflected here.

Maybe.

Did anyone note that for the first time that I can remember in this war that there is a Ukrainian forces counter-offensive in the south?

keep in mind that the russians claim they don't want to take over or occupy anything in non-contested areas.
they claim that they went in to destroy the uke ability to wage war on ethnic russians and if that is true, once they have destroyed the equipment or armaments, they have no reason to stay in those areas. i would hesitate to make claims of ukes "retaking" areas when the russians are not trying to hold them.

That sir is an outstanding memory you got there. Great example. I had forgotten all about that little incident. I saw a documentary on that ship a decade or so ago and they actually pulled up munitions out of it.
The reason it sunk so fast.

Take a look where. It's to the east of Odessa. I think the Russians want that territory, at least to control the seaport. They would not want anything to interrupt their southern incursion on it's western flank.

the fact that the Uke's can even mount a counter-offensive says a lot.

i wouldn't be so quick to believe the same people that told you hunter's laptop was russian disinformation.

I am posting this article simply for the religious element it contains. Russia strongly supports Christianity. The west now strongly discourages Christianity and supports in-your-face homosexuality and apostacy, the moral corruption of minors, and many of our leaders are murderous pedophiles.

I wish that many of these statement were NOT true, but having been involved in public education and school boards for many years, I know there is a deliberate war against Christianity, morality and the traditional family structure.

"We didn’t want our children studying in government schools, so we homeschooled them. The USA is a good country in many ways, with many good people. But for various reasons, my family and I no longer felt good about living there. I was looking for a different country where we could live, and I began to research countries with strong Orthodox traditions: Serbia, Georgia, Greece, and of course Russia.

- Why were you disappointed with life in the USA?

In America, many things were very good. We had 6 acres of land, I had a tractor, my children milked goats, and our church was not far from home. I was also working as a computer engineer. All of these things were great.

But I didn’t want to live in a country without a future. When the Supreme Court legalized so-called “gay-marriage”, we were very frustrated. Every society is built on the foundation of the family. When the family is strong, society and the state are strong too. History has confirmed this many times. But without strong families, society crumbles. The homosexual lifestyle is a sin, and it destroys families.

In Russia it is possible to find people who practice the homosexual lifestyle, but it is not promoted by the Government. And as St. Paisios says: When an individual sins, God punishes the individual, but when the government sins, God punishes the whole nation. I don’t know if it will take 10 years, or if it will take 50 years, but if America does not repent, then the nation will fall.

The second reason was related to foreign policy. They put hundreds of military bases around the world, and have supported numerous unjust wars. And whenever they bring war to Orthodox lands, it seems that they are always attacking Christians, rather than protecting them.

However bad the leader of Iraq may have been, at least he protected the Christians who lived there. But after war was forced upon Iraq, the Christian populations were mercilessly exiled or slaughtered. There were around one million Christians there prior to the war, and today there are virtually zero.

In December, 1998, western armed forces stopped bombing Iraq during Ramadan, out of respect for Muslims, yet in 1999 they had no qualms about bombing Serbia on Pascha, the holiest day of the year for Orthodox Christians.

Consider the recent war in Syria. The Orthodox Christian faith has been native to Syria for 2000 years, going all the way back to the first century. In ancient times Antioch was a Syrian city, and according to the New Testament scriptures, Antioch is the very first place where the word “Christian” was used. These ancient Orthodox Christian communities have been around for 2000 years, and they still exist in Syria today. And the current leader of Syria protects them.

Meanwhile, in the recent war, opposition forces were systematically torturing, raping, and slaughtering Christians without mercy. And when the West entered the fray, they supported the opposition. Over and over again, Western countries continue to support those who kill Orthodox Christians. This is not acceptable.

Because I am a Christian, I believe that supernatural beings are among us, and that they influence the course of history. I am confident that international policy is not merely a confrontation between human beings – it’s also a battle between angels and demons. If you on God’s side, then you should protect Christians, not try to destroy them.

Russia openly promotes the Orthodox Christian faith. And in various military conflicts, Russia has fought for the side which protects Orthodox Christians. So if there is ever another major war, I do not want my children to be in an army that fights against Russia. I would rather they be in the Russian army, so they can help protect Christians.

- Why did you choose Russia?

The most important reason is religion. The Orthodox Church has been in Russia for over 1000 years. And today, millions of devout Orthodox Christians are living life and raising their families in Russia.

Whenever firemen fight a large fire, and they need a safe meeting place, they go to a part of the forest that has already burned out. For 70 years, the fires of atheistic Communism burned through Russia, bringing oppression and martyrdom to millions of faithful Christians. But that fire has burned out, and Russia has learned its lesson.

In Russia for the past 25 years, over 25,000 churches have been either built or rebuilt. That’s an average of over three new churches built every day. While the rest of the world is turning its back on Christian principles, spiritually burning itself to a crisp, the Church has found a safe haven within the borders of Russia....."

  • Russian state media revealed the ship's location just days earlier, showing it unloading armoured vehicles

oh, i didn't mean to poopoo the map, i just meant the conditions or actions around it.

that said, the french and uk are pretty much the same as us....dirty as hell and a bunch of liars.
Not going to argue that but so are the Russians, BTW.

There are no good guys here. Like everywhere else, it's the poor people caught in this mess that suffer. This region has seen more tragedy over the years than just about any place.

And half the world isn't looking at this and wondering when they're the next target of economic expulsion... Your tribe is creating the fracture and the rest of us will pay. I wonder if you're not the flip side of the fed coin. Do you have graphs at the ready to show everyone otherwise? You glow.
That’s your emotional knee-jerk reaction to a world you simply don’t understand after a life of public-schooling and memes.

I’ve been such a huge critic of Federal agencies for so long, that it predates the popularity of the internet. Everyone that knows me has seen that throughout my life and interactions with them, my commentary on the ATF, FBI, and especially the Agency.

The FBI and CIA were co-opted and penetrated by the Soviets before any of us were born. These are subjects I have studied, written about, and discussed at-length for decades in my personal quest for knowledge.

I understand that trying to figure out the world at the last minute during the kick-off of WWIII is extremely difficult for people, but when you see someone breaking it down in ways you have never heard before, you might want to step back and pay attention instead of lashing out aimlessly.

For those who bough into the propaganda that this is about Ukrainian corruption and Putin saving them from Zelensky. That’s the Russian embassy in Poland, burning documents.

Pretty much routine for what embassies of countries all around the world do when they know there is some diplomatic trouble brewing and they might get kicked out.

Chinese were busy doing that when we told them to close a consulate

Our embassy in Afghanistan was doing that when we realized the puppet government we put in place was going down in flames.

And along that line of though, just to nail home that point, look how institutionalized the treason is within the CIA and FBI.

Look at how they lost their minds when Trump appointed General Flynn as senior NSC Advisor. That sent shockwaves throughout the Soviet/Chicom/Iranian/Pakistani mole network in DC.

Soviets were embedded like a tic already in the WH in the 1930s with FDR. They even had Lyudmila Pavlachenko living there with Eleanor Roosevelt to push their shaming campaign on the US to try to get us to send our prime age males into the ETO to suck up some of the Wermacht’s munitions, when we were perfectly fine with letting the Russians reap their own Molotov-Ribbentrop pact consequence with Hitler.

J Edgar Hoover was a life-long bachelor who lived with Clyde Tolson, the associate Director of the FBI. Hoover also claimed that the mafia was a myth. Many in the Bureau still worship and defend him to this day (there’s a cult of personality in the Bureau that is very 1920s-ish, and existed with Comey as well).

They are SOP before loss of diplomatic relations and invasion.....

My (loose) contact in the Russian foreign ministry bragged back in the 2000s that now that Putin was in, they would take back Ukraine, Poland, Baltics, and Finland.

This has jack-all to do with Zelensky and bio labs, and everything to do with the Russian re-expansion cycle of history.

Burning papers at the embassy in no way proves that.
The only thing that it proves is that the Russians (rightly) are concerned about a breakdown of diplomatic relations with Poland or expect Poland to go on a fit of virtue signaling fury and expel their ambassador (which they are allowed to do under international diplomatic norms).

I seriously doubt the Russians are in any mood to go invading Finland or Poland.
That being said the Polish were making noises about wanting to go send their army storming through the Ukraine so who knows, they could come to blows.

Let's hope not, in the last 150 years, every time Poland was trying to be the big wheel in starting some global conflict things went pretty badly for them in the end. Maybe this time they won't try to start something?

what do you think our embassy in ukraine was doing?
burining doc's before the Russina invasion....
As for Russia burning documents in Poland..
Maybe Russia has some plans for Poland.. but I honestly believe they will not invade.. Then again....they've done it before.

Poland does know a lot about suffering, invasion, and communism over the last 80 years..
I believe Poland knows about suffering under the communist boot; wants to send Russians back to Russia

From Putin’s perspective, he can’t afford to bet that things will remain stable in Europe and there will never be an adventurist European leader from Germany, France, Sweden, England, the remnants of Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth (notice where Kaliningrad is on a map), or some new emergent variation of any of the above.

So far, he has:

Set up a puppet in Kazakhstan
Invaded and laid waste to Chechnya, leaving occupation forces in the Caucauses
Invaded Georgia (2008)
Now invading Ukraine

Next up:
Annexation of Moldova (they’re pretty Russia-friendly there)
Poland
Lithuania
Latvia
Estonia

He can pressure Germany to retract from immediate NATO commitments while he has Biden in the WH (Soviets literally got Biden into the Senate with his 1972 election and he’s been on their payroll ever since). With Biden “exercising restraint” it will signal American unwillingness to get involved with this mess, and somebody will be left out to dry. Germany, France, and the UK don’t give a rip about Eastern Poland and the Baltics enough to jump without US support, and if they do, they’re looking at escalating WWIII into a place where they would humiliate Russian air power, deny them use of the sky, and then naturally want to make tactical strikes against Russian IADS platforms providing protective threat Missile Employment Zone coverage from within Russia over Poland and the Baltics.

Unless something major changes, he’s not going to stop. The next question is, if Russia has been bribing US politcians for the better part of the last century, how many moles do they have in London, Berlin, Brussels, & Paris? They had the whole leadership of the West German intelligence (BND) at the end of WWII with Reinhardt Gehlen’s Org. They had 200 doubles within the CIA. They had Philby’s gang in British Intelligence not only during WWII, but afterwards during the kick-off of the Cold War.

Russia is still very weak with their structural and geographic problems, which is why they dominate with penetration attacks that are high-order saturation of foreign intel and governments. They have to have moles within their neighbors’ systems to know exactly what’s going on to alert them when to make strategic moves in the regions surrounding them. That and many other events in history robbed them of an intellectual and technical class for interior domestic industries, with intel and MIC taking precedence.

Here is the map from Putin’s strategic position of vulnerability that he has been hemming up since he was one of Yeltsin’s deputy prime ministers in the late 1990s:

Yes, They pushed the Russians back in the South and also in the North around Kiev. They also pushed back the front lines around Kharkiv, but as LBC pointed out that is where the Russians are withdrawing forces.

I wouldn't say either side holds the areas to the East of Kiev along the supply route since it seems to change hands daily, and this is where you find the videos of destroyed Russian columns that the Ukrainians keep ambushing. Since it's just contested space, its better to leave it as such until a front develops or one side maintains control for a period for more than a few hours at a time.

In the South, they pushed the Russians back from Voznesensky (sp?), past Nova Odesa and to Mykolav (sp?) forestalling their attempt to circle around to the North of the City. Both Russian and Ukrainian sources seem to verify this in their own way.

In all cases, the Ukrainian gains are isolated and local events and nothing serious or a major penetration along a major front line. Same could be for Russian side in the past couple of days. A little too early to call it a stalemate.

Nothing here says that either side is going to win. Just that the Ukrainians are certainly doing more damage than anyone really expected at the beginning of this conflict. You are right to note that it is a significant achievement that the Ukrainians are able to conduct localized counterattacks of any strength.

Both sides are trying to regain the initiative and Its either a testament to the ability of the Ukrainians to quickly organize and concentrate efforts, or an indictment of the poor Russian planning. Probably a little bit of both. The Russians are misstepping and with support the Ukrainians are able to take advantage of the situation.

There’s a lot of speculation about Putin expecting to have taken Kiev within a few days, maybe a week, and the country in short order, but his mass of logistics on both the Russian and Belorussian borders indicates he was anticipating a very long marathon.

Nobody seems to have anticipated how many sanctions would be enacted though, including Putin.

The total Russian Ground Forces had 620 BMP-3s, 3000 active and 1500 reserve BMP-2s, 500/7000 BMP-1s, 435/200 T-90s, 480/4000 T-80s, 2030/7000 T-72s, and tens of thousands of various trucks prior to this invasion.

You can count how many vehicles, tanks, APCs, and IFVs have been lost in unprecedented detail on Oryx. Documenting Equipment losses during Russian invasion of Ukraine. Last I looked, there were over 1500 losses of these types of vehicles, many of them trucks, but nothing from a strategic perspective indicates they have lost enough to prevent an overall invasion plan of not only Ukraine, but Poland and the Baltics too.

I didn’t think they would do this, but they actually rail-lined on trains a huge amount of armored forces from their Siberian Eastern military districts and marshaled them just over the Russian and Belorussian borders.

They have plenty of resources to throw at Ukraine to eventually get it done. Current strategy from Central Europeans is to delay Russia and keep them bogged down there before Putin moves onto his next strategic vantage point.

In 2018, Putin began storing up munitions in Kaliningrad, SS-26 Iskander Theater Ballistic Missiles, guarded by S-400 IADS platforms that cover much of Polish and Baltic airspace.

While everybody is talking about bad Russia and such nobody seems to be interested in how much the Chinese have worked their way into controlling our politicians, corporate types, news media, entertainment media, sports teams and education elite.

Not to mention China using the money they get from us to buy / take / get strategic resource, energy resources, transportation routes / resources.

Sure look at Russia and their desire to have their buffer states around them and ignore the Chinese who are successfully implementing their plan to replace the USA as the dominant global influencer.

Hi

So can Theis now apply for Ukrainian refugee status, asking for a friend ! Or does one need to be at least one of the letters in LGBTQ not just fake Ukrainian

Sincerely

*US Reportedly Agrees To 100,000 Ukrainian Refugees
Bloomberg reports, citing a senior Biden administration official, that some of those allowed into the country will come as refugees, but the U.S. will also permit others to seek parole status or immigrant on non-immigrant visas.
Bloomberg reports that the official said the U.S. is committed to protecting LGBTQ people and those with medical needs that have been disrupted by war.

Rhetorical question. No one should answer as I'm sure this site is monitored, just food for thought. How many in the US train regularly with people you trust and how often do you train. Do you know who in said group is medically trained well enough to handle a situation that could happen. If you cannot honestly answer Yes maybe you need to spend some resources and time to assure that you do.

Why? There's been a bunch of stuff that was on the Simpsons years ago that happened later on.

The dates seem suspect as does the face of the Russian as Putin wasn't in power until 1999 and most didn't know much about him.

I'd need to find the original episode and watch it to be sure it's real.
