That's a fact lol I just finished up headspacing and painting it night before last, waiting for some lapua ammo and I'm off to the range!Poor man’s GAP Gladius, I like it. The Gladius has long since been a great lust for me.

I appreciate it! I'm pretty excited to get some trigger time behind this thing. I really want to shoot the 175 sierra matchking out of this one but I'm having a hard time with powder choice/availability right now lol I used cerakote; burnt bronze, glacier gold, and armor blackTyler that looks great!
Welcome to the world of practical. That’ll be badass!

18” 6.5CM is definitely where its at after playing with the 20” 308 barrel. I can’t wait to get handloads rolling to boost the speed up.
Mind if I ask what kind of loads and muzzle velocities you are getting? I'm trying to decide between 16" and 18" on a 6mm CM.6mm Creedmoor

My 16 “ was almost 2700 while load developing , barrel should speed up after I get more rounds on it.
I’m still doing load development, but getting around 2700 with 42.8gr of H4350. 2730 with 43.1gr of H4350. Likely going with 43.1gr as it was consistent single digit SD and obviously a little faster with only mild pressure signs. Now onto seating depth test.
Rifle is a tikka CTR with 18” carbon six sendero
I actually have a 16.5” PVA barrel. What length was the PVA and speeds? To follow up on this, my velocity increased to about 2800 FPS with 42.5-43gr of H4350 in an 18” barrel after 100 rounds. I will be backing the load down to 41.5-42 to reduce pressure but impressed with the speed of the carbon six so far. Faster than the PVA it replaced

Prime 107 SMK factory ammo AVG MV of 2740. That's on the new Proof barrel.Mind if I ask what kind of loads and muzzle velocities you are getting? I'm trying to decide between 16" and 18" on a 6mm CM.
Not too bad. The MHSA spun up 24” bartlein was 2750-2770 with 41.5. I’d really like to be north of 2650 so I might have to venture up to 42.5-43. But I guess if I have too much pressure signs as long as I’m 2600 or higher I’m happy. I have 200 rounds already made up with 41.5 from the previous barrel so I’ll shoot those and go from there. Thanks for the info! The PVA was 20”. I would get 2700-2730 with 41.5 gr

I get 2715 fps with Peterson srp brass, 41.4 gr Rl16, 143 ELDX, 18" Bartlein suppressed.
RL26 is definitely faster, but RL16 is also worth a try. I chrono'd these loads in my Sig Cross over two different trips.
147gr ELD, Starline, 210M, 18" barrel, 35 deg
RL16
41.5 - 2,545
42 - 2,646
42.5 - 2,668 fps
147gr ELD, Starline, 210M, 18" barrel, 55 deg
RL16
42 - 2,662
42.2 - 2,678
42.5 - 2,699 fps
Even better info. I run a TB ultra 7 lolI should note that all my values are suppressed (omega 300). That likely adds some speed to my setup.
Good caliber - nice setup.Remington 700 Classic in 7mm Mauser. The action is pillar bedded, and it uses the MagPul DBM bottom metal. (plastic, I know, but works perfect, and was way cheaper.) The free floated barrel is now 18" has a Surefire SOCOM three prong flash hider so it can fit a suppressor. (pending government permission of course) View attachment 7807031

Alright, I’ll join the discussion. Love me a shorty 308.
This is killer!
Very nice. Curious as to velocities you are seeing? I've got a barrel I'm about to spin up in 6 creed, undecided on length, but have toyed with idea of a 16"-18". Thxlil 16” 6 creed…. 10lb 4oz as pictured…

I have a 16" 6.5x47 built by Accurate Ordnance. It has a Bartlein #3 barrel topped off with a Thunderbeast 7" can, Manners EH2 stock. It's my whitetail rifle and has accounted for a bunch of deer with 123 Amax. Does well on steel out to 800yds. It's my favorite rifle by far.Has anyone done a short 16-18” 6.5x47? I’ve always been intrigued by the cartridge. Of course, I could just do another 6.5cm.
That's a sweet build. Care to share the details? My 6.5x47 is 18 inches. It shoots 130 gamechangers 2730 with h4350. View attachment 7829196View attachment 7829197
Do you know what that setup weighs?View attachment 7801800

Depends on what you consider manageable. I want to say it weighed in at 15.1 lbs. Even a 16" pencil barrel and lighter optic would still result in a rather heavy hunting rifle, but close to manageable enough.Do you know what that setup weighs?
I'm toying with the idea of ditching all my centrefires for an AT and just having a bunch of different barrels.
Just not sure I can get the weight managable enough for a hunting setup that will be carried a lot and shot very little.
Along those lines, I just bought a Kimber Montana for those times I really need a lightweight rifle. And then ditched my center fire rifles for a couple DT SRS where weight doesn’t matter. Still useable for hunting if I’m not walking a long ways.Do you know what that setup weighs?

I'm thinking if could get down to around 12lbs it'd be ok especially if it's short, I find short heavy rifles easier to carry than long unweildy ones.Depends on what you consider manageable. I think 12lbs is unrealistic but dreams are free.
Oh yeah. Could’ve saved 6oz going to the LHT and 4oz+ by switching to rings. Would’ve put me about 10.5lbsI really like that DT SRS rig.
For hunting, you even could get it under 11 lbs, if you used a hunting style scope (like a Vortex LHT) and light rings. As much as I love the ARC scope mount, they are pretty heavy. The mount alone likely adds at least 4 extra ounces compared to rings.
But I like it exactly as it is. Love the 3-18 Mk5.
What contour barrel did you go for?Oh yeah. Could’ve saved 6oz going to the LHT and 4oz+ by switching to rings. Would’ve put me about 10.5lbs
Whatever the factory 16” 308 barrel is, honestly not positive what the exact contour is. It is heavily fluted though. What contour barrel did you go for?
I'm amazed the DT is that lightweight, puts into perspective what a heavy pig AIs are.
Looks pretty lightweight, especially if that is a step up to allow for a 5/8x24 thread.Whatever the factory 16” 308 barrel is, honestly not positive what the exact contour is. It is heavily fluted though.View attachment 7835026
The DT website lists that barrel at 4.2 lbs. Not bad...Looks pretty lightweight, especially if that is a step up to allow for a 5/8x24 thread.
