A Los Angeles Painter on Immigration

Hi,
You have explained well in terms of immigration problems and their causes on the economy. But I always think of immigration as a positive side because it plays a key role in the poor countries' economies. I have my own experience which is not very good as an immigrant.
To know more about immigration you can visit this site.
Please don't conflate immigration with illegal immigration. The speaker in the video is very complementary of the work ethic of immigrant workers and provides a fair assessment of pros and cons of immigration. His criticisms are of the effects on this country, and immigrants' home countries, of unbalanced, unregulated immigration. Many Americans are supportive of legal immigration and relate due to our own immegrant background. However, many Americans are also sick and tired of the value of our own work being eroded by those here illegally. Add in the taxpayer funded benefits being used to purchase the votes and support of illegals and it becomes a tbreat to national sovereignty. Contrary to what democrats and the media tell us, immigration can happen without it being illegal immigration.

This guy nails it-
Yea, right.
He said he has parked his work truck outside places like Home Depot with the bed full of tools and never had any stolen.
Sure, maybe if it's just nasty drop cloths and the like.
If there were any tools in the bed they would have been stolen at any Home Depot I have been to in California....and we can count those in the dozens.
You see, I did construction in california for a while myself.
The only reason those illegals don't cause trouble on job sites is 2 reasons....1-they'll get fired and 2-immigration is a simple call away.

It's because nobody likes to paint.

Have work being done on my house starting in April. Had a few GCs come out and had the wide swatch of guys who I could tell were just trying to size me up as to how much they could rip me off for, all the way to guys doing quality work over the last 30+ years who went the extra mile to get me info on things and would follow up about anything I needed.

Asked them all to bid the jobs in the house separately; paint work by itself, BBQ room add on by itself, wood beams by itself, etc instead of just telling me it'll all be X$ so they could hide shit in it.

Also then asked who they were contracting out to because I know some of them and know what they charge. I also mentioned I wasn't paying a 'high end' price and then having 45 Mexicans in my house that just got done slapping some cookie cutter shit boxes together. Guy I went with has basically the only white guy crew in town.

Corporate executives lobby congress to bring in more people into the stem fields to reduce the amount of wages paid through immigration. They say that there are jobs that American workers won't do. I'm sure there are some cases where the best and brightest can be brought in, but many H1B foreign workers just end up being taxi or truck drivers. I didn't think that there was a shortage of taxi or truck drivers before though when both of those fields paid a better wage.

Simple call away? Millions are streaming over the border. Doubtful they'd be helping out with a tip call.

I was a contractor in LA for 32 years, working all over from Compton up to Malibu. EVERY single plumbing contractor has had either their truck either stolen or emptied out by ILLEGAL aliens. If you get your empty / trashed truck back it's because the Lynwood sheriff found it in no mans land between Willowbrook & Lynwood. The sheriff will tell you it was illegals and that there is nothing they can do. All of the new construction and high end remodels that are going on in the expensive parts of town are bringing these people to their neighborhoods to work. Neighborhoods that they didn't even know existed before. Once the house is built or the remodel is done, the robberies start. That neighborhood will never be the same, I have seen it first hand for 30 years. It only took three years for my high end neighborhood at the beach to get shitty. At 7:00am, when only the locals were there, the place was great, just like it had been for 30 years. By noon it was full of the poors with no class or values.

Now I live in N Idaho and all of the construction workers are white and crime is low. It is about impossible for an illegal to get an I.D here. You have to prove who you are {birth certificate, marriage license, passport} to the Sheriff to get a license or id card. You can't get any service without one. Houses, apartments, banking, job, phone service ect.. This is how you keep the integrity of your town.

Isn't this the basis of "Broken Windows....."?

More or less. I noticed the biggest difference happen after obama was elected. His anti white rhetoric emboldened the dregs of society to go to the high end parts of town where they knew they were not welcome before. With people now afraid to say anything and now wanting to appease liberals, they let their neighborhoods decline. Before obama, people were vocal about the dregs not being welcome. Most people do not go where they are not welcome. Up here we are very vocal about making them not welcome. We do not appease liberals at all here.
