  • What are the typical distances you intend to shoot? Under 600 yards
I had two new rifles built recently and as juice to an unrelated trade I received an S&B 3-12x50 Klassik, this one specifically S&B Klassic

I had already bought a Vortex Razor HD LHT SFP 3-15x50, this one Vortex LHT

I have looked through both, held them. Mounted the Vortex and hunted last season with it. The S&B is foreign to me but appears to be part of their budget line. Both optics are priced in the same category, within ounces of each other, both have illuminated reticles with the Vortex having a bit more magnification and better turrets.

Honestly, I can't tell the difference between the two (especially glass quality) and am unfamiliar with S&B other than people saying they are good. My 6.5 cm will get much more use due to ammo availability and the weight of the rifle. Right now I am leaning on putting the S&B on the 6.5 cm and the LHT on the 280AI.

Is this as simple of a decision as S&B > Vortex or are the Vortex scopes in this range better than the S&B budget lines?

Thanks for any input.

Had both. Sold the Vortex after a month, had nothing but problems with it.
Bought the S&B afterwards.
Still have it. Mine has the illum, p3l mildot and the exposed elevation. It’s on a dedicated ultra light 7SAW hunting rifle so I don’t mind only having 3.3 mils of elevation as I certainly don’t plan to shoot an animal anytime soon past 600 yards

Give it a shot.. flog on it and report back

Illumination for my use isn’t a feature I need.. same with retarded good glass. Just control harsh lighting my.

The 3.3 miles is sure limiting but should be okay with 200 yard zero.

Reticle isn’t perfect.

But again give it a go and beat on it. If it fails.. better now then a buck of the lifetime across the canyon walking away and ur holding an empty gun.

Ok good to know. The rifle it is going on has 20 moa built into it.

If you haven't already figured it out, check out the user manual and notice that you pull off that 3.3 mil ring, then zero it with the actual adjustment underneath that, then put the 3.3 mil ring back on.

Difference is night and day. Get the Klassic. Even if it's one of the Hungarian manufactured ones. You won't be disappointed.
