What do you know about killing anyways besides reading about it in a book or from some movie? Each person reacts to killing in their own unique way.

Some people were meant/born for the fight. Some might say it is a test of wills and skill. Either way, it is fun till it isn't, it is chaotic, it is what separates the warriors from those that aren't. I've seen guys freeze in a fight, I've seen guys refuse to get up on the gun in a fight and I have seen guys put it all on the line, I have seen guys do some wild stuff.

I have always said that you see the best and the worst in people in a combat zone/war.

There was a documentary not too long ago, followed some troops in afghan, there was some old afghan guy with a milk cow, well the troops one night see the cow and shoot it, they had that “fighter instinct”, later on they found out that old guy decided to take money from who ever to ether give intel or set a bomb to kill troops (I forget which), to which I shrugged, yeah if some foreign troops were in my town, shot my business and how I provide for me and mine, someone offered me money that I now really need to hurt them 🤷‍♂️

What would be best is if we just stayed the fuck out of that part of the world. History has many lessons of great empires who went to go put their dick in the crazy that’s know as the Middle East.

The middle east was/is crazy, there are a lot of good people there. I was able to help assist bringing a lot of good people from there to the US and we are better for it. I would like to go back to Iraq and visit it someday. Go see An Najaf and Baghdad. I have some people I would like to visit in both places. Maybe one day, we'll see. Afghanistan on the other hand I really didn't care for. Only place in Afghanistan I wouldn't mind seeing again is Baylough, there are two people I wouldn't mind seeing from Afghanistan but I am sure they are either dead or fighting with the northern alliance. Baylough was a nice area (scenic wise), outside of the IED's, mortar fire, recoilless fire, small arms, you know, normal Afghanistan stuff but it was a nice mountain area.

All that being said, as a kid who watched red dawn,if a bunch of foreign troops were in my town, telling me and mine what to do, pointing guns, etc, I’d have no issue with them meeting their end.

Now the issue I have with bringing the collaborators back to the US, they betrayed their own countrymen to a foreign power for a check, so we bring our “friends” back to the US, what happens when another country offers them a bigger check and a better relocation deal to betray the US? Or is that different?

The little snippet you quoted of mine was in direct response to the protecting the country from enemies foreign and domestic comment made by another man. This is the most ironic and false statement a military man can make. It’s a lie and I called it out and explained why. I do agree with you that a soldier won’t do anything until he is ordered and once ordered he will do anything. History proves it.

You act like I’ve been mother fucking soldiers over my last few posts. I have not yet I have been motherfucked and lied to by them. All I’ve done is pointed out easily observable points. Even if I were motherfucking them, they are government that I am forced to pay for. Taxpayers have every right to bitch. Why a military is necessary to defense, what ours is used for is wasteful expense and wasteful to the lives that may be going in thinking its something its not.

Having an unelected fraudulent elections resulting in an illegal president and congress not elected by the people somehow doesn’t contradict the constitution? Explain that one to me. If thats the case, that document is more even more flawed than I realized.

Most of the guys I worked with saw the potential to move from a repressive government to something more modern where they had some semblance of rule of law, equality and a bit more peace. Taliban really didn't afford that in Afghanistan and neither did Saddam and his sons in Iraq. Most of those guys risked their lives and their families lives just trying to make their country a better place (like anything you get some shit bags). So, were they betraying their country or trying to better it?

Of course the other side probably believes the same about their guys, one mans freedom fighter is another mans terrorist.

My family left, but they didn’t betray anyone, just left. They didn’t sell out strategic information on their countrymen to come here, actually think some of them had dual citizenship, but I’m not 100%

the people who live in much of Afghanistan were there 2000 years before Alexander the Great. They were no better or worse than anyone else around them.

it isn't that group of people who caused any problem. The problem was the little book with scribbly lines that they were forced to bow down to, starting around AD 650.

I actually find religions and their origins fascinating. Not arguing that most of the current ones have been perverted by their respective pushers over the years. I mean scientology is a thing and my phone just tried to capitalize it. This is coming from a twice a year Catholic (phone didn’t try to capitalize that, go figure).

Agree with ya there, the creation stories are interesting, but for a thinker these days, not useful for much more than anthropology and understanding dumb people who follow them.

If I was going to work in the Middle East I’d for sure read the quran cover to cover to understand those inbreads a little better

As far as the OP, our gov is fucking over some phenomenal people that they promised to not only to not fuck but actually help. They’re too busy chopping dicks off on our dime for the weirdos, apparently. I wish I could dictate where my tax dollars went. I’d be a lot less angry about that theft if I got to choose to fund home loans or healthcare for combat vets vs the gov getting to fuck it off.
