Im new to reloading (I know great time to get into it with powder and primers being so plentiful). Im wondering which powders to start with. I have a local lead on the following: RL-19, RL-22, IMR 4831, IMR7828, Accurate 2230, Superformance, TAC, H4831SC, Varget, IMR 4350, H4350, Reloder 22,
Reloder 19. All the projectiles I have listed after the rifles are in hand

Rifles loading for:

GAP 26" barrel 6.5 CM: IMR4350 or H4350 (this is not a hunting rifle, just a plinking one) shooting mostly 140gr Elite Hunters and 147 ELDM

Proof MTR 7RM 24" barrel: I was looking at IMR 4831 and H4831sc. (hunting rifle, Shooting a range between 160gr AB, 150gr CX, 150gr E-Tip, 162 ELDx, )

Proof MTR 300 PRC 24" barrel: Looking at N565 and IMR 7828/7828sc. Shooting almost exclusively 220gr ELDX

24" barrel 280 AI: I was looking at IMR 4831 and H4831sc. (hunting rifle, Shooting a range between 160gr AB, 150gr CX, 150gr E-Tip, 162 ELDx)

I am going to hunt with the 7RM or the 280AI this year and

I have plenty of brass and primers for all the above rifles. I also Currently have 1 lb H1000 and 1lb IMR 7828 powders.

I think you are on the right track. Some rifles will prefer certain powders but overall (the ones I know) the H4350 works great for most with the 140+ gr bullets. For the 280 either would work well (the "sc" is just the Short Cut version so the little rods are a bit smaller and meters better depending upon how you are weighing your loads).

I tend to move to VV powders, they burn clean and are good performing, but tend to be a bit more $$. Maybe someone else will chime in on the 300PRC and 7RM powders.

From the data I looked at the VV powders are quite a bit slower than the rest. I have access to N555, N565, N560 as well. I just didn't include them

Ill go in whatever direction you all suggest, if the VV powder is the way to go for hunting. Ill pony up the $

H4831 and SC are great in the 06 case and very temp stable.

7828 and ssc would be my pick for the 7RM and PRC, although RL-22 will probably be the fastest and slightly more accurate.

H4350 in the CM is a lock. Although IMR 4350 is not nearly as far behind as people think.

I’ve been researching a lot today haha.

I got H4350 for the creed. And H4831sc for the middle rifles.

Also grabbed some N565 and N555 to try that

I personally would grab a pound of 7828ssc and give it a whirl, too. That’s a very under appreciated powder.

The H4831SC will work well in all of them. I use it and H4350 in my 6.5 Creed and 280. I also used it in my 300wm. It was pretty easy to drive a 200ELD 3kFPS with it.

That’s exactly what I was hoping to hear haha

Hopefully you already have a reloading book with powder loads for every caliber and bullet weight you are planning to reload. Compare the pages of the calibers looking for common powders with suitable velocities.

If you have not already purchased dies, I recommend spending extra and buying a micrometer style seating die for any caliber you're planning to do precision shooting with. That way you can adjust the seating depth as you go. Also a full-length resizing die instead of a neck sizing die.

For 6.5 CM, I've had good success with H4350 and IMR 4350.

Yes sir, I have the Lyman, Nosler, Hornady, and a Berger manual :)

I bought Redding competition dies for all but the PRCs (they don’t have them for them). I bought the closest thing to the competition does that Redding makes for the PRC calibers
