    Atlanta zoo backtracks on its gun ban after two months, allows visitors to carry firearms

    Zoo Atlanta will allow people to again carry firearms on the property after backtracking on a new policy banning visitors from carrying guns on the premises.

    Does Georgia have preemption laws related to concealed carry (i.e. Does state law supersede local laws regarding the possession of handguns)?
    Yes, the state has preemption of firearms laws in Georgia, except local municipalities may regulate:
    • The discharge of firearms;
    • The transport, carrying or possession of firearms by county or city employees in the course of their employment; and
    • Requiring heads of households to own guns.
    [Ga. Code Ann. §16-11-173]

    This and throw in all large cities. Its just not worth the stress.

    Edited to add: With the possible exception of San Diego. The area is so pretty and the climate so good it makes it worth it for short stays.

    Eh well I'm from Savannah so we get nice climate most of the year and pretty area and the ocean. All without being in California. Is it perfect? Mmm well no. No, alas not. But I'd rather be here than there.

    I feel ya, brah.:cool: Savannah is a nice area but the SD area climate is drier which helps the arthritis.

    When I was in the military we drove a truck and trailer loaded with three dozen rifles and about 100K rounds of ammunition thru Memphis. Animals on every corner were looking to carjack or rob people at every light. If you had a window even partially down and a purse on the seat, they would smash the window. Leave a door unlocked and you got replaced as the driver.

    So we are stopped at a light and the 4 or 5 corner dregs start squeezing their nuts and drifting towards the truck looking to take a shot at the title. I was wearing an M4 and an M9, so was the driver. Lets just say, this was going to get loud very shortly. Once they had squeezed enough blood from their nuts back into their brains they turned and walked briskly towards our truck. I hit the down button on the window, flicked the safety off and drew my rifle up to engage. Why shoot thru glass if you don't have too? Suddenly, Deeze mutherfuckers are short a couple of rifles in this fucking drama. All the blood drained back into their nuts and they froze, mouths hanging open like idiots and hands going up.

    Everyone kept their hands up and backed away slowly. Apparently they did not want the truck as badly as we wanted to keep it. The light turned green and we drove away. That fucking place is a 3rd world shithole all by itself.

    SoCal has many nicer places than SD. No matter how nice they are, it’s still CA. I left 12 years ago after living there for 14
