Anvil 30 lube ?

Good question. Depends on your environment... Not much difference in what you are using on your weapon.
I would shy away from any spray using a "propellant"... The propellant will react negatively with many plastics, vinyl, etc.
If you really want to get into the research, make up a test panel with several different lubes and bring it with you to the field and see which one collects abrasives.

I hit mine with Teflon spray or you may prefer this.....

A CLP style, grease, dry Teflon, graphite. It’s all aluminum and steel. Pick what works best for your environment. Clean it just like your other gear that gets dirty and froze and you don’t really need much if any. I mainly use a gun oil I have on hand, small drop work the ball cleaning off and wipe of all residue possible.

What does the manufacturer suggest?
I have never applied any kind of lube to any of my photography ball heads after many decades of use.
True, they aren't subjected to the possible abuse of shooting rifles outdoors...
Though, I would think you could cause it to lock up if you apply the wrong thing?
