New to the forum here. Will the Super 42 spring and A5 buffer system work with an AR pistol setup? Too much? If this has been discussed before, my apologie.

.556 and a planned 7.62 X 39 rig. Direct impingement system. I want to try the stroke piston setup next year while recovering from a planned surgery. I would love to hear any thoughts or experience that you might have with the short stroke piston systems. Thanks for replying so quickly. Happy Holiday! Are you asking about pistol caliber blowback or direct impingement/short stroke piston?
Yes, the A5 and 42 spring will work, and as posted above, you'll need the rifle length 42 and not the carbine length. Of course you'll need to use the A5 length buffer, and which weight will depend on a number of factors such as gas system length, barrel length, suppressed or unsuppressed, etc. Hopefully you're aware of the threatened rules interpretations from the BATFE and other laws regarding AR pistols and braces..556 and a planned 7.62 X 39 rig. Yes indeed, I am. It is becoming quite the administrative word salad quagmire. I am very attentive not to cross the line that leads to a federal felony. Hopefully, with the many Federal District Court injunction that have come about lately, much of the quagmire can get sorted once and for all. I am considering the H3 weight buffer. I've watched a ton of "reputable/accurate" videos from various sources and the H3 seems to be in the neighborhood. I'm not running a suppressor yet so, that won't be a factor. I can tell you I've run an A5 system with success on a 12.5 VSeven 300 blackout barrel, Pistol gas, with an Adams Arms piston kit. Functioned very well, super smooth. Having tried both, I've found I prefer the weight and simplicity of the modern DI system. Yes a piston in very extreme circumstances "can" be more reliable...the reality though is that you likely will never experience the real world situation where a gun gets pushed that far or hard. If you do, God bless, you've got bigger issues than whether or not you chose piston or di. Totally personal preference IMO.
