You could also save components by actually firing fewer shots and still win.
his groups are meaningless because he cant shoot and he doesnt know how to measure real precision, but if he uses labradar, velocity is to believe.
for precision it would be better that he puts all shots in one target, so he would have 35 shots in one target. 7 targets of 5-shot groups with floating groups around the targets are meaningless.

I should think that same MV would mean same pressure spike and vibration. What else do you think, aside from shooter ability, would result in different group size from loads with the same MV?
I hav wondered when someone sells 100 pc new brass. “Just opened to look at it.” Was that the case or did they buy 300, wt sort it, and sell the 100 odd?? Something to ponder on
I ,too have come to the same conclusion . I've never shot in any formal competition and don't intend to . I enjoy seeing small groups print on paper, to test myself and equipment / handloading ability. My findings have been ,when every round is as close to the same total weight as I can get it ........groups will be as small as I am capable of shooting with what Im trigger squeezing on a given day......some days are better than others.
Glen Zediker tells a story in " Handloading For Competition " that was passed to him from Mr Berger ( if my memory isn't failing ) about a competition across the pond where they were issued the ammunition...... Long story short , they segregated their rounds by total weight and won.
I guess,when it gets down to the nut cuttin IMO , the more effort and time one puts into their handloading program better results happen......IF one is capable and has a capable firearm........thankfully Im still able to shoot the difference......... sometimes.

Well.........if I spent more time shooting................I'd have to spend MORE time Handloading ,ya see how that works ? And that would take away from my beer drinkin and guitar playin time.......and general fucking off time...........done growed outta my hell raisin time.
Don't have any fancy dancie equipment that measures that small........so you struckout on that assumption..........AND Ya must of missed the part about ,I'm still able to shoot the difference......sometimes ,which is what and all that matters to me, who is the only one that matters here. more than I shoot, less time I reload because I dont complicate anymore because it doesn't matter on the target.

Yes, great point…when isolating variables that have a meaningful impact on precision, MV is meaningless. Flies in the face of the “velocity nodes” concept but it is what it is. I haven’t found any evidence to support the velocity node concept. Actually, all evidence I’ve accrued is contrary to the concept.

That seems to be the conclusion that everyone who has actually tested it comes to. That velocity nodes don't actually exist. I don't know what I really believe about that, but everyone I have seen who actually has a real statistically relevant amount of testing in a meaningful way comes to the same conclusion, which is telling.
