We are lucky enough to live in an out of the way place, where we don't have to go far to find areas mostly untouched. It not hard to imagine the lonely spanish caravans trekking across the desert. While trying avoiding indian raids, find fresh water, and navigate. As one Spaniard put it. "In a land so vast and featureless, we have to navigate by the stars."

There are some pretty good stories on this channel, and some that will peg the bullshit meter. Enter at your own risk. :ROFLMAO:

When I drive across W. Texas, Arizona, the great plains. etc. and it 118% with no A/C, I under stand how tough those old settlers were, and why they didnt live very long.

I have spent a lot of time talking to a lady who worked at the nursing home when some of the old homesteaders were there. As in people my 100 year old grandma's parents and grandparents age. There are a lot creeks around here that ran even when my grandparents were kids, that don't run anymore. Not to mention nearly a different set of animals. Flocks of carrier pigeons, wolves, Bison, grizzlies, the spanish reported leopards and lions as far north as the platte river. I can only assume that was Jaguars.
