I keep waffling on the CDG. I want to do a 6mm Creedmoor. Planning on a Bravo chassis. Will be used as a hunting rifle most of the time. I have zero, and I mean zero, experience with bolt guns. Assembled a whole bunch of ARs. I'm nervous about the AW mags and the trigger hanger, and any mods I may need to do. Because I have no idea what I am doing. Should I send it and order the CDG, or go safe with an Origin or Nucleus? I still need to research triggers in general also.
It's very little work for the trigger hanger. It's also very little work to change the mag catch on the KRG chassis. Just go for it. It's a blast. I'm super excited for this build.

I pretty sure from what has been posted you don't have to use AW mags you can build it with AICS mags like the other actions they sell. I hope I'm not reading it wrong because I pre ordered a 223 barrel from PVA and there are not any 223 AW mags that I have seen lol
Be careful with that gauge ball it should be part #9528K44 (1 1/4") not the #9528K24 as list in one section. You would figure it out real quick if you ordered the wrong part number and saw it was only 1/2".
This is not actually hard at all and if you e assembled some ARs, this will be almost as easy. Maybe just as. As mentioned by ARC just above, either mag will work just fine with most chassis. Especially those that have spent adjustable or replacement mag catches. And the trigger hanger clearance is not an issue with most either. It’s and easy mod if even needed.

I'm wondering if it is possible to modify ARC (Nuke/Arch/Maus) other actions barrel to work with the CDG?
A magnum or .535 case head barrel from one of the other Arc actions will be interchangeable with the CDG Per the new print.
You won’t be able to add the cone to an older barrel without recutting the chamber & Tenon. Tenon for cone breach is .085 longer.
Sure. Push the whole chamber forward, and chase the thread, but why, so you can never use that barrel on your Nucleus, Archimedes, Mausingfield again?
Set your barrel up with a barrel nut and single feed the CDG and you could switch your barrel between any of the ARC or a Savage action. That is probably how the first rounds through my CDG are going to be ran while I wait for the new style barrel.
If the PVA prefits in .535" and up will be cut without the conical breach it sounds like they'll be backwards compatible. Put another way, any existing prefit for ARCs in the big magnum calibers should be GTG for the CDG if I'm reading the print correctly.

Up last is a barrel that started life as a coned breech for a Farley action.
It was rechambered from 6 PPC to 6 BR and the breech end was modified to the Remington bolt nose.
Note that the cone sits further back than the flat breech but doesn't really affect the Remington setup. It does aid in feeding though because the back of the barrel isn't flat.

I just got the email release on the CDG Print from ARC.
After scrolling up in the thread it looks like we were a little later receiving it than the post but either way it's here now.

Has anyone heard an update on when they might start shipping? My smith is 4 ish weeks out so I’m hoping it’s about then…
when the preorder started i think they quoted around 8wks. it's been around 3 weeks now, so probably 4-5wks, if I had to guess
It depends largely upon when you ordered also. CDG Action projected delivery dates moved out considerably as time went on. Understandably so.
Though I think that Tremordude might have been referring to the expected barrel delivery date. Hard to tell.
It'll be there when it gets there.

Just spoke wiht Russ at SPR and he said if you plan to order a prefit from him, you'll have to send your action in to verify it matches the tenon print.
We will be doing prefits for the ARC CDG action but we ask you send us the action to certify the chambering specs adhere to the print. This is one of the potential drawbacks to prefits if the action doesn't match the print. If we do a prefit and it doesn't fit your action we'll fix it but we'll charge you to fix it.

Then it's not actually a prefit. If arc says it's good for prefits it's good for prefits. The action will match print. There are tolerances and fits for reasons. Looking at the dimensions of the print above the +/-0.001 covers everything that it needs to get it where it needs to be.
That's what i was thinking. Ted does right on his actions and SPR does right on their barells so i don't see it being a problem
If you recall and even if you don’t, it was stated up front that they are not going to provide delivery dates as this is a preorder. The biggest condition of allowing a preorder was that there was no promise date, only targets, and that once you order, let it be. Be patient.
Get busy with something else. Go ahead and order components or barrels or other for your build, but Do Not set an expected completion date in your mind. That’s a guaranteed way to ensure that you’re disappointed or stressed.
I'm sure I'll have everything in hand, assembled, and test fired before Leupold has me a MK5 in stock.
Exactly what he told me. I can understand it, it's a new action and they want it to be right when it leaves their shop. After they run a few through and get a feel for it, the "action in hand" requirement might go away. I'm about 1.5 hr drive from them so I'l likely just drive up and let them measure it.

Depending on how long the PVA orders take to be fulfilled(I get paid later this week so i missed the prefit deal) I may send an osprey barrel blank to them, if the turnaround for both is less. I want a 7 twist 6mm in a heavier contour than a heavy varmint, both of which they don't have available.
Just finished ordering the last parts needed. Once I get my smith the action he's going to have a bart barrel spun on in 2 weeks. Already has the bart barrel blank on his shelf.

Sure, but the machines they bought to make sure this was possible probably cost 4-5 times that amount.
