For God's sake don't tell Joe about this.

Can't read without subscribing, but around here it's simple re: swimming.

    Don't go swimming at night.
Don't go swimming in the swamp.
Don't go swimming where there is a reasonable likelihood of alligators and nobody watching.
Don't go swimming when it's the previous one at night.

    Nightswimming deserves a quiet night
I'm not sure all these people understand
    It's not like years ago
    The fear of getting caught
    Of recklessness and water
    They cannot see me naked
    These things, they go away
    Replaced by everyday

Same article I think no paywall

when I lived in Bama I would check this site before swimming in a near by river

I think it depends on how poor the waste treatment plants are near the river and how much rain fall has taken place recently.

The problem is just worse than it was 30 years ago, but has always been a problem

and warmer climates have always had this issue too

207 people out of nearly 2 million got sick from ass-nasty water? Well that's no fun and rivers etc should certainly be as clean as possible but uh...

I mean if you asked me to go jump in the Savannah River and do a few yards I'd tell you to fuck off. That water's got who-knows-what in it from all the ships and the plants and so on, not to mention it's water to begin with.

Probably nobody talks about the risks because it's such a tiny percentage of cases.
