Claims his source is a guy, who knows a guy fighting with Wagner.
One of the crazy stories that came to light recently in regards to Wagner vs Russian MOD and High command
The whole story and others like it also mean that understanding of Wagner and their boss standing in the Russian hierarchy and/or ties with Putin is massively misunderstood or misrepresented in the Western MSM and think tanks. These guys are no privileged private army like Irans IRGC , but merely convenient cannon fodder, and Prigozin's sway with Putin seems minimal to none .
''Prologue: Assault on Palmyra
March 26, 2016.
On the eve of the Wagner storming of Palmyra General Alexander Dvornikov was in position with a large retinue and guards. There were also a large number of Syrian generals, to whom the ''barmen'' constantly carried tea in thin glass cups - and cold towels. It was hot. The generals were sweating, but they sat and watched. It was like in a theater - white tablecloths, tables. And they see on the roof how ordinary guys will take Palmyra.''
Long story short Wagner's troops stormed Palmyra alone while Russian and Syrian brass watched the show, then a day later 'heroic' Syrian troops with a tiny Russian contingent waltzed and claimed it in while top brass of the Russian army attached to Wagner took the credit for the assault. An agreement was made to award 4 Hero of Russia medals to Wagner troops involved in by all accounts a very intense fight on fortified ISIS position and Defense Minister Shoigu supposedly said that awarding medals to PMC would be an absolute disgrace, the medals were handed out to top brass of the Russian military instead.
Putin seemingly misinformed about the reality on the subject wrote a letter of commendation acknowledging Wagner fighters for their supporting role as second-echelon troops in an attempt to smooth things out.
So the running yoke in Wagner at the time as we are the second echelon but there is no first echelon in front of us
After the whole episode, Wagner's chief on the ground had a massive fight with the general staff and minster Shoigu over the charade around the awards, and things spiraled from there.
Defense minister Shoigu ordered the army general staff to disband Wagner in Syria immediately with haste and have all their personnel repatriated to Russia, days later a Su34 dropped a bomb on Wagner's position that just happened to host Wagner's point man in Syria at the time who lost an arm as a result of that attack, all involved still believe it was intentional, as the target coordinates were sent to Su-34 from HQ , not the forward controller on the ground.
Days after the order to disband Wagner Syria bunch of airlifters were dispatched to pick up the PMC,the Wagner troops were rounded up across Syria and disarmed and all ammo stocks retireved., flights were delayed due to bad weather and 300 or so bastards were at the Latakia port at the time when someone decided to have them loaded them up on a bulk transport ship and send the long way around by boat , without any provisions only the ship crew smuggled onboard what they could save them even more agonising trip as top brass continued pressuring down the command chain for speedy removal of Wagner from Syria
Wagner wounded were also refused treatment at a military hospital and could only be treated at Wagner's own facilities.
All in all defense minister Shoigu and Army general Staff used every chance to punish them over the Palymira spat, 9 months later Palymira fell when Syrian troops fled from ISIS advance.
Reading these reports written years ago by a now-deceased war correspondent that was embedded with Wagner at the time, one can only assume the fights of Wagner's boss with Shoigu and the General staff are real , nasty and can really mean the military is deliberately withholding ammo from them.
