Anyone ever have a job where your boss was too cheap to buy an electric version of this? Anyone ever have the job cutting all the wood for the job site with this tool? Not going to lie, he did have an electric drill. That was the only power tool. I often wonder if it was cheaper to pay me than to buy an electric saw.

Looking on the bright side, I was forced to make sure I made the correct cut the first time. Even back then, lumber wasn't cheap and if I made a mistake, that meant more wood to cut. When one arm got tired, I used the other. Don't talk to me about nail guns! I never learned how to use one.

If you got proficient with one of these as a teenager, then we can be friends.

Summers in the early ‘80s doing construction and barn straightening working for an 80-something year old carpenter named Walter. I learned more those two summers than in k-12.

Plus my grandfather had a wood shop in his basement. Not a single power tool. Whenever we visited, we would build something.

Mine taught me to use a jack plane, brace and bit and lots other tools you no longer see. He didn't own a car and walked almost everywhere. House had a pot belly stove in the front room. That and the wood burning stove in the kitchen were the only heat sources...unless you count the half-dozen quilts you slept under that my grandmother made. No TV, no radio. One shotgun, one rifle and one SAA .45. Lots of fishing gear. He liked to use maggots for bait. Kept them inside his cheek like chewing tobacco. Smoked filterless Pall Malls.

Some of the best memories of my life.

You know, I sort of need one of these in my life...

Yes. Yes you do. Nothing sharpens a pencil like these. Grinds instead of shaves….

One that sharpens carpenter's pencils.

I don’t like the carpenter pencils. I like a regular skinny pencil for carpentry and such 🤷🏼‍♂️

I began inside trim at 13, my Uncle Gary was a Trim Carpenter for a huge builder and he had me cutting and installing Crown by the time I was 14. He used regular pencils and I always emulated him.

I’m still a damn good trim man.

When the left talks about “15 minute cities” and “hive living” this is whattthey have in mind for you.

These are apartments in Caracas, Venezuela. It’s not photoshopped. They are back to back, stacked up the hill hovels for the little people to exist in.

Little different from socialist projects in New York and LA, apartment blocks in the former Soviet Union, and Council housing in Labor England.

This is the meaning of “you will own nothing and be happy.”

This is why the Second Amendment matters.

This is where your kids and grandkids will exist if the left gets its way.
