We have handheld blue and purple lasers here on the market that can sear a line across a wooden board with just a steady swipe over. Really powerful infrared lasers have been built by some of the science Youtubers that can cut smaller twigs and such. Having an efficient way to dissipate all the waste heat from the unit is the main issue. And the lasing medium and lenses get burned out really quick. When the SETI radio emitters were sending out signals all over the night sky in the hopes that a nearby technological civilization might one day pick them up and reply back to us, they were putting out pulses of invisible energy so powerful that if one of these dishes happened to be accidentally pointed at a person in the area, it could very likely cause fatal injuries. It had to be that powerful, if they wish to have the radio pulse still intact and readable among the background cosmic radiation of space after traveling up to several hundred light years through molecular clouds, asteroid fields, and energy fields of nearby stars and whatnot. Power supply, and transportation of that power supply, is the key factor that is limiting the proliferation of weaponized direct energy.

I don't buy it for a second. Being a total nerd I really like this kid. I think his big toe is smarter then all of me put together. And some of the things he says and does is really interesting.

The Spyder Arctic and Jupiter lasers are all capable of cutting and scorching all sorts of material and these things are stupid powerful.
