Any one playing with DIY upgrades to Ckyepod.

Seems like a way to go

I just ran the Clay’s Cartridge PRS match this last weekend in the freezing rain and blowing snow and these upgrades were worth every penny. I can get the tension tight enough without having to break out a tool to stick through the factory tension knob and the oversized leg knobs were great for deploying the legs quickly with frozen hands and with gloves.

    Highly recommend.

Super happy with that kit. Makes it easy to find the knobs without looking when I already have a ton of crap to remember on the clock when shooting 90 second stages. When they have mud and dirt all over the bipod I also like feel like I have more leverage to press down on. Simple easy and quick to add or remove tension to the cant. Money well spent!

I think these things are a must for the Cykepod. The factory knobs are way too small and are difficult to use in most conditions. Also due to the design if there is even the slightest pressure on the legs prior to pressing down on the smaller knob the binding that occurs on the straight locking pins makes it incredibly difficult to drop the bipod legs. The larger knobs are also incredibly useful if you have light gloves on for colder weather.

The tension knob with the thrust bearing is also a great feature that I have never seen on a bipod before. I have never had the tension knob loosen up with repeated adjustment to the rifle cant unlike other levers I have used in the past.

The bipod is expensive, but it is worth it to me for what I use it for. There is nothing on the market that can offer 10” of adjustment without adding extra leg extensions. No matter what a product costs, if there are companies that offer better modifications, I am happy to buy them. I have upgraded triggers, barrels, scopes, stocks, magazines, scales, funnels, tripods, bottom metal, trickers, etc. because they are better than the base model.

yea not sure after buying the bi pod and what was paid for it , I want to pay 50.00 more for a button fix and a colored nob . I like most of what the thing can do and have learned to live with most of what it does that I am not so fond of reminds me of buying there weights after finding out I can get double the weight for 1/3 rd the cost .

Had a near disaster on my last session with the gen2 , one the knobs got lost so could only change the angle on one of the legs or pre set pior to stage the other by alternating the one button left between the two legs , trough a bunch of stages and of course was preventively checking the one button left after every move just so it doesn't go missing as well, but thankfully i found the missing pin in the rifle case 2 days later for that reason alone i will be making a bunch of spares and enlarged knobs on the lathe, now that i know they can fall out, And these knobs could be quite a bit larger without impeding anything.

I am not quite certain if these should be thread locked or will it impede anything

Any idea where to find the replacement pins? I can’t find them online and I definitely need some, one of the ones on my Cyke Pod is bent so it don’t work now, any advice is appreciated!

One of my buddies had his fall out. Mine are tight enough that you can't get them out if you try.

Mdt sent him a few spares with a phone call.

Have you spun up any out of steel so it do t bend as easily? If you have and want to sell some let me know, I’d like to buy some out of a harder material that don’t bend.
Received couple sets of spares but will likely make some new ones on the lathe with enlarged heads and also mod the leg angle knobs similar to Crosstac

Are these issues common or not? Expensive to have this happen if it occurs frequently. Really looking hard at purchasing one, but not sure at this point. Maybe stick with TBAC…
