I have some insight into this through friends. It is not as bad as Gaetz makes it sound, but the situation is still not great. There is no risk of another benghazi though as the host nation isn't hostile at all. They are almost certainly bucking for money from the US.

Because it is one of the most strategic locations on that continent for air power projection with a very small footprint.
