I think the point was that penguin fat was not needed for arctic warmth, not that they weren't fat. Because Penguins don't live in the Arctic.
They are also not limited to cold water, there is an active population in n Sydney Harbor

Geography:
Penguins live primarily in the Southern Hemisphere. The tiny blue penguins can be found in Australia and New Zealand, while the majestic emperor penguins can be found in Antarctica and the king penguins can be found in many sub- Antarctic islands. Kind of. All three fuse tubes start out in the upright position and the top of each fuse tube is energized. The operation of the first fuse connects the bottom of second fuse to the downstream circuit. When the second fuse tube drops, the third fuse tube gets connected to the load. A poor man’s recloser.
Crews never stop and replace the first two fuses when the tubes are hanging down. Because the next operation guarantees a callout and OT.
Living on St Lawrence Island, I had a Polar Bear roast gifted to me.I rubbed it with salt and pepper and sat in the fridge for overnitht. I seared it, stuffed garlic cloves in it, poured a can of Mountain Dew in the Dutch Oven, placed that roast in there surrounded with some carrots. It was about 10 degrees and wind howling outside but we had the kitchen window open while it cooked. The wife and daughter would not even taste it. I only had one bite and I did not swallow it. Seals stink.
Seal oil is considered a delicacy. Another one I can live without.
Stink flipper is made by stuffing the flippers of a walrus into its stomach, along with whatever was already in there, and burying in the tundra for at least one year but even better for much longer. It is dug up and shared for special occasions. Botulism takes out entire families each and every year.

You should have cooked that P Bear in a crock pot with canned tomatoes and LOTS OF BLACK PEPPER THEN ITS EDIBLE…something about the acid in the tomatoes an old Yupik lady told me….

What’s funny is that my penmanship and hand writing is so horrible, I normally had to type out notes to my secretary. What’s worse, yet deliciously ironic though, is that I don’t look at the text when I type, and get fumble-fingers a lot when typing too, so there’s usually a ton of transposed letters (“teh”) and typos throughout anything I type.
Of course, that just makes it even funnier to me, and to those who know me well.
It’s the balance of life… LoL.

Seal oil if done right should be clear and no flavor. It's easy to burn and turn rancid though. Still part of the diet here for the old timers. They dip the hard smoked fish into the oil to replace the natural oils lost during the cooking.
