I think spandex touched the kid at some point, blocking his path of egress from the vehicle.
I know the TV shows call this "assault" when it happens to a alphabet agent but I'm not sure how much leeway the courts give to mere mortals in the same situation.
I think the kid handled it well. It's clear the blubbering spandex sack of shit was no real threat to anybody, causing him even more harm wouldn't help the situation. The way things played out I think the kid has the opportunity to press charges if he wants for harassment, assault and false report.

For it to be a good shoot here in Texas there should be some clear threat to life or property and spandex was neither one.
It might have been OK to slap his touching hand away and respond accordingly to any follow up aggression but, also here in Texas, this could be viewed as unnecessary escalation if you're carrying.
