Is the forend longer on the AT-XC? I thought the AT-X could take an 18" barrel.

Yes, I believe it's longer than the AT-X. According to the literature/specs on the AT-XC the forend clearances 20" and longer barrels. I pulled a tape on the forend and it looks like it's right at 18" long so it's possible an 18.5" barrel would clear with a can on the end.

I'm pretty confused with the colors they're using for their stock photos with this color. I thought the reason elite sand was discontinued was because the color matching was inconsistent. But here we have 3 different sage greens from Mile High's website?

Just the ramblings of someone that is probably going to buy a green ATX chassis regardless.
Sage green can really look different depending on lighting. Here is the same exact gun in different lighting.

@FUNCTIONAL thanks for the pics! That isn't all that much different than the color of my elite sand rifle. Maybe I was expecting it to be more like the old AI or Sako green.
It’s nowhere near Sako green or TacOps ODG. I think it’s pretty true to the name similar to older USAF issue sage green.

Hey guys, for you AXSR owners, any of you run the MLOK forend? Any issues with interference with the factory AXSR barrel?

If you have M-Lok accessories, they will need to be pulled before swapping barrels.

Fastest path is to pull the forend when swapping barrels instead do each M-lok accessory.

Thanks for your reply, much appreciated. Do the inside screws of the MLOK assessories or rails touch the barrel? Is there enough clearance when the barrel is already in?

@DLOW666 is there a specific reason you're wanting the mlok rail if you have the fitment concerns? You get like 4 or 5 pic rail sections with the AXSR in the box if you need to attach stuff.
I was just weighing the mlok option vs the factory Key slot as I already have a bunch of mlok accessories . I don’t have any issue with the Key slot but I also like the mlok options. I don’t have the rifle yet, and I wasn’t aware it came with key slot rails. it should be delivered within a couple of weeks. I was told the mlok accessories may interfere with the barrel and I appreciate the feedback. Nice to hear from people that have first hand knowledge.

As said, they don't really interfere with the barrel itself, only the removal/installation process. The diameter of the chambered area is too large to slide in or out past the m-lok inside attachments. Once the barrel is installed, there shouldn't be any interference, so other than when changing barrels you should be fine. Your options when changing the barrel are to either remove the m-lok attachments first, or the forend (but then it may not slip over certain muzzle brakes, so...still a pain.

I agree that with the key-slot pic rail sections provided with the gun, it's a much better solution to just go that route.

I recently bought a 2011 AW from a local guy getting out of the game.

Low mileage MSA 260 barrel, AI brake and Seekins rings.

Now to get rid of the terrible Viper skins and track down some original thumbhole skins. Right now it is looking like skins are going to be hard to find.

I am thinking this will end up being a short barrel 308 with a Covert Suppressor.

What's the issues with Viper skins? Most of them that I have seen seems to fit well:unsure:

Viper skins came out when the AT was the only AI in town and people wanted a pistol grip. Then the pistol grip AT and AX came out. Now people want the thumb hole for the classic AI look. Nothing I've seen say viper skins quality is crap , just the looks compared to what people want now.

We've gone full circle.

Exactly. I remember when everyone wanted Viper Skins because they were “hot”! What’s new becomes old and what’s old becomes new.

I bought an ATX chassis off of a member here and am going to swap the action in my AT out for the new (to me) ATX chassis.

My question is, will the action screws I pulled from my AT work in the ATX, or do I need to order new screws for it to fit correctly?

I was able to find the torque values for the actions screws on the ATX but not the size/type.

Hopefully, the seller will send the action screws with the chassis. I did the same swap you are doing and received the needed screws for the action/chassis.

If you need them reach out to Mile High to see if they have any. Or just continue updating your progress here.

Once you pull the AT chassis you can probably tell just by putting them into the ATX chassis if they’re going to work or not. Compare the two chassis with the same screws

Lots of us are active here and enjoy updates to guys working on their AI’s. So you may get lucky and find someone who has extras if needed.

I’m just going to guess they’re not the same length. As the AT is bonded and has spacers for the bonding between the chassis and action. So if it is the same length screw it would likely engage the action threads deeper with the ATX chassis as it’s a thinner chassis where the 4 screws are located. But I’m honestly not sure if they’re the same

What sling you guys run with AXSR or AXMC?
I run the rifles only bungee on my AT’s. I really like the bungee for using the sling as support when tripod shooting and what not.

Mine has the plastic buckles. I hade the TAB PRS sling before that with cobra buckles. Didn’t have the bungee which I really like having now. The cobra buckles were metal which also beat the crap out of anything they slapped against. Always worried me if my scope cap wasn’t closed that I’d hit the ocular lens of my scope if not careful

The metal ones were also loud when slapping against the side of the gun

Really? Wasn’t expecting that

I was mostly joking, but it does work if you SBR them and run short barrels and cans. Otherwise you're dragging the barrel. Super handy for short stalks.

I don't usually sling my AIs. If I do it's two point across my back muzzle down. Pretty much anything that's adjustable works well.
