WinTac did hook me up when my fore end bridge on my AT-X only came with 5 screws instead of six.

It was a hard day of counting that day... I had a good laugh calling it in especially since the package stated six scews. No harm, no foul, and they took care of me.

Does adding a forend bridge stiffen up the rifle? I just switched to a TBAC bipod. If I crank down the tension and cant the rifle I notice a lot of flex in the forend. I would need a taller scope mount to run the long bridge, but I could add the short bridge. I'm also curious if the forend bridge helps with mirage off the barrel?

Done three times that in dry firing. I hope I can do this stick it's due this season. It will out shoot me. Even if I do my part.

If you don't mind: How are you getting the 6GT to feed reliably from your mags? I have both followers in my mags, and if I don't load the cartridges forward (to where the base of the case is even with the back of the feed lips) my rounds will nosedive about 10% of the time. That was with 105 hybrids...I messed around with 95gr Noslers and feeding was just abysmal.

My workaround is fine for range plinking, but there's no way I'm ever going to use it for serious things as is. FWIW I have zero issues with my 6 and 6.5CM barrels and feeding.

I had issues with AW mags I had, turns out they were AW mags for R700 footprint actions. Bought two ATX optimized mags from MH earlier this week. They needed some rounds ran through them to break in so Ive ran about 150 between the two of them, just an empty case and some take down 109s I have. Im up to about 90-95% feed rate. So definitely think just getting them worn in will be the ticket. They have 7 layer spring instead of the other 4 layer. Really stiff when I got them. But they have loosened a little, feel a little stronger than a PMAG follower spring tension.

I've got one of the "optimized" mags too, and am about at that same 90% that you are. You can get them to run just about perfect if you load the rounds like I posted in my response above...but still no 100% joy with the 6GT in my AT-X. It really sucks too because the barrel that I've got is an absolute laser.

I actually run the 6gt factory hornady and standard AI AX and AW mags with no issues once I put a round of tape on the back of my mags. This raises the back of the mag up slightly and tighter in the mag well. This runs flawlessly for me for several years. Adjustable mag catch would be ideal.

I've had minimal issues running 6gt from ax mags in my atx. I just load to where the shoulder is up against the Rib in the mag. Did stretch the mag spring for more tension. I do have a couple greyops mags, and use them in a zermatt TL3 6gt, work well no miss feeds, but the rounds strip harder out the mag VS aics. I'm going to order a couple of the new improved ax mags from milehigh and see how those work.

Why not just buy a short foreend AICS chassis, swap your foreend out, and then resell the AICS chassis with your old long foreend? Are the AICS and AI pattern ATX chassis incompatible in the fore end fit?

I don't have either mine in front me at the moment, but I'm quite certain the forend is enteral to the chassis on my atx, as well as the several aics atx chassis I have. Where have you found options of length other than just the different length mirage covers? I know aics arc short forend chassis have been advertised, however I have never saw one.

It's likely that I am missing something because I am scratching my head at why this is so complicated. Short foreend ATX AICS chassis are in stock at Mile High. Buy this, swip swap just the forend piece and resell it with your legacy ATX long forend installed. But again, I must be missing something. Like the fore end is solid back through the inlet and can't be swapped out with a 700 inlet ACS

You are. The forend also becomes the bedding surface under the action portion (and the magwell/trigger guard bolts to it)
Could you mill it?..possibly, but it would be much easier to just chop your forend...plus, you'd never be able to create the v block bedding for resale to someone who wants a 700 pattern with what you have to work with on the original AI chassis ..

Yup on the ATX the forend is what is torqued to the chassis. So you have 4 action bolts from the bottom. Then the trigger guard area bolts to the rest via bolts 4/5 in the pic above

Unfortunately that also means that if they sell just the short forend for the ATX (not AICS) it be a lot more expensive

The area on the bottom of the ATX chassis where the action bolts are is also decently thin from what I remember. So probably not milling much on that

Yeah the forend is integral to the action interface/bedding block of the chassis, it's not modular like some chassis. And modular is shit, weak flexy where you want rigid and solid.

It's AI man, get used to not being able to get what you want, parts being unobtanium and having to pay 100% up front for a part that should be in stock, but it's a custom order that you'll wait 2 years for, or may never get! You gotta drink the kool-aid to keep hammering away with these things!

The sweet spot seemed to be 55 inch lb and some guys running up to 65 inch on the AXMC platform

Okie, going to be a 6BR, 26" 1.125 straight, 7.5 with Cortina V2 and Area 419 HFM. May just go right to 55. I will be using the identical reloading equipment, components and recipe as the builder uses the same to great success on his rifle.
