See the contestI am not a cosmology wizard but search this channel with black holes.I have a hard time understanding how a Black hole/singularity can have zero volume. If it has mass, how can it not have volume?
If it is essentially the nuclei of atoms compressed into an incredibly tight space… and therefore causing extreme gravity… it still should have some volume….
Maybe a singularity is tiny. A former sun the size of a grapefruit… or a golf ball. Or the size of a bacteria… but even a bacteria has volume…
So if one of you cosmology wizards who has. Better grasp of the theory than I do can explain how it has no volume… but does have huge mass…. I’d love to grasp the concept.

Less math but will still make your brain hurt. Blackholes do that for every bodies brain. Essentially dive by 0 made reality. That makes my lizard brain hurt, I hate maff

Wrong, Ted Danson escaped from one......Nothing ever escapes a black hole...
If I was digging in the bait tank, I'd throw that overboard because it's too small........for bait.....lolI love fly fishing, this is the most accurate representation of my exploits fly fishing.
Depends on how hard you try to take what's being said as actual fact as opposed to a long rambling declaration of "we don't know".
Black holes ... all mass no volume single point ... need a theory to try to describe what's in the middle but we don't know what that is ... that's what would happen I think ... probably not a singularity some kind of stringy stuff ... no hair ... maybe ... cosmic strings ... blah blah spaghetti ... I'm hungry

Black holes do have a “size”. All that mass falling in doesn’t “disappear”. It’s being compressed due to the gravitational effects off all the mass present. Matter is neither created or destroyed. That mass takes up space. The almost unimaginable amount of mass contained inside a black hole on the scale of Ton618 would occupy an enormous amount of space, and create an accretion disk of massive proportions. For the sake of nerding out, black holes don't have a "size." They are a singular point in space, hence the term singularly. Black holes can be entirely described by three numbers, mass, angular momentum and charge. The black space within the ring is the event horizon, or the distance from the singularly where its gravity becomes inescapable. Hope you learned something.

Black holes are not a singularity. The only singularity that has been identified with any amount of reasonable evidence involved the Big Bang.
Black holes do have a “size”. ...
How do you know this?
Internet? The same way people "know" any religion is fact.
There is a massive amount of space (99%) in an atom compared to its actual mass.I have a hard time understanding how a Black hole/singularity can have zero volume. If it has mass, how can it not have volume?

If you want to ship something...........you will never have the correct size box...........been there, done that..........I still have the boxes for my last three phones.
I think I may have heard something about this during one of my trips back in the 70's..........Black holes do have a “size”. All that mass falling in doesn’t “disappear”. Trust the science.

Strings ARE religion so far… they don’t even have a good theory yet… maybe a postulation. Brian Greene is also a weenie.
And Hawking Radiation escapes from black holes…. That’s the jets that escape perpendicular to the plane of the black hole… if I am explaining that right.

Bullshit. That's not Fort Knox, it's a grocery store in Tijuana.
