New Tikka Chassis Rifle Coming T3X Ace Game & Target

Glad to see the .223 is going to be 5/8-24 threads and a 10rd mag. The ACE price looks good, I believe it will be a great seller. I would like to see a barreled action deal also so we could choose our stock.

The hunter and lite line of rifles will now come with threaded barrels. Tikka seems to be listening to their customers.

“Plus, the rifle features an interchangeable magwell, allowing compatibility with different magazine types for added versatility”.

Wonder if this means you can change between AICS and CTR mags?

the rep confirms AICS magwell availability in the video. Also Tikka YouTube channel has confirmed a folding hinge that is in development, a 6CM chambering and that the chassis will be sold seperatley eventually as well

I'd be interested in knowing how many Tikka consumers change anything on the gun, I'd bet it's not more than 10%. My guess it that SH members are a mere drop of water in the ocean of the Tikka market. Could be wrong though.

This is absolutely correct. Most Tikka owners roll with the factory stock. I have 2 Tikkas myself and one of them is still in the cheap factory plastic (my 223 that I use for NV for coyotes/hogs). My CTR precision rifle is in a Manners though.
I’ve owned maybe a dozen Tikka’s over the years and I’d say I’m about 75/25 on changing stocks out.
I think of the Tikka stocks like Glock sights. Not really intended to stay on, but useable if need be.

This 20” 308 CTR was in a Bravo but I went back to factory CTR stock. It’s lighter and I prefer its ergos for hunting.

Does anyone have more info on this.
1) Ace Target with the heavy barrel and two stage trigger is only available in .308, 6.5CM and 223. No 6.5PRC, no 7PRC or other Long Action magnums. Ace Game is available in long magnums. Any info if the Target versions will also be offered in these calibers? Buying an Ace Game and swapping barrel + forend + trigger + magwell etc is kind of pointless to get a long range target setup.
2) There are black versions of actions and barrels and there are Cerakoted versions. Are they all stainless steel underneath or is it SS + Cerakote and Chromoly + black? No info via their website.

Just buy a super varmint and whatever chassis you want. The ace is just a proprietary chassis that was hastily designed to go to market, not for what shooters and competitors actually wanted.

Tikka does not understand the American market and its obvious. They also refuse to listen to feedback as well. The black and the tungsten cerakote are the same actions, carbon steel.

Yes they really need to speak to shooters and all them what they want to buy. They seem to be just aimed at the hunting market and everything else is an afterthought. Barrelled actions would sell like hot cakes.

Prototypes were shot at the Gap Grind in October. There was a ton of feedback given to Tikka. Guess how much they listened to or changed based on that feedback. I’ll give you a hint, it’s a round number.

Lol, doesn't surprise me. I've worked for a few large corporates, too many yes people in the hierarchy. They actively exclude anyone that questions the status quo. Ask me how I know 😉

I was the ONLY person in the org that actively shoots PRS and yet, all of my feedback was blatantly ignored. So I feel you.

Can you elaborate what were the changes that you proposed to the ACE chassis system and which MDT chassis model most closely resembles to the ACE? MDT stuff is really expensive this side of the pond and since Sakos and Tikkas are manufactured in our nice neighbouring country then their prices in turn are probably more reasonable then others. Just an example: MDT ESS Tikka Long Action stock is 1750 eur. Tikka ACE Game rifle in Long Action is 2000-2150 eur per pricelist black vs Cerakoted versions. Target models have the same pricelist or very similar.

Also interested in this @HardRockARC as I usually look at products through the eyes of a spot n stalk hunter and curious about different perspectives. And if you don't mind sharing what your current preferred chassis setup is for Tikka too thx

So as far as the Ace chassis is concerned, it’s way too light for PRS and too heavy for NRL. The mlok slots on the sides of the forend were too low. When using external weights they would interfere with both RRS and A419 arca clamps. I couldn’t slide my Accutac bipod either. The forend attachment is good, 4 bolts on the bottom and one on either side where the QD cups are. The barricade stop is aluminum, but the bottom “metal” is injection molded plastic. If you bought all the weights tikka sells for this you wouldn’t break 19 lbs. the internal weights actually use up both sides of the mlok slots. So if you bought the 7 individual weights you’d lose all your mlok slots on the sides. And for only 400g / 14oz. Crazy right? The fact they didn’t release any new calibers for a competition gun is mind blowing as well. Or change barrel profile. Like others have said, usually factory chassis like these miss the mark. This one did. They would’ve been better teaming up with KRG, MDT or Vision and releasing a model with an already proven chassis. Instead of slapping a super varmint barreled action in a flimsy light weight aluminum chassis.

What would I buy? Recommend? Any of the brands I just listed. I have my eye on the. Vision Pro chassis for tikkas.

Hope that helps.

As an owner of MULTIPLE Tikka rifles (all in 6.5x55) going back to M65 line - I have to say, I am getting frustrated with Beretta/Tikka USA group. Basically what they advertise for US market, often for me, does NOT translate into a reality.
Example: SuperVarmint 600mm barrel in 6.5x55 - allegedly “available” in USA - reality = NOPE (yes, I tried EuroOptics and Scheels). *** I refuse to play “$750ish game” of immediately rebarreling a $1.7k rifle - been there done that ***

Versatile T3 Sporter which is/was an INCREDIBLE rifle - one would think Tikka would continue with it IN ALL CALIBERS previously offered…. Not happening/happened.

While I love Tikka (well, don’t drop your new production bolt on a mat in fear of a busted handle) for out of the accuracy and 0 need for a barrel break-in , I am becoming slowly un-committed to the brand.

To be fair to Tikka they don't just serve the American market, so it doesn't make sense for them to make products that are purely aimed at the US market.

That being said if they are doing a PRS orientated chassis that costs a similar amount to aftermarket offerings they really need to be competitive with said aftermarket offerings.
The interchangeable mag well is possibly the biggest selling point of this chassis and I think will be fairly popular.

Based on Eurooptic pricing the Super Varmint and Ace Target are similar prices, so the ACE is still a fairly good option for a ready to go off the shelf option.

Anyone wanting to do a Tikka build should really just buy the cheapest base model and just get the aftermarket barrel and chassis they want.

I did / am doing that. I've got a lovely Tikka action sitting in my safe waiting for me to build a rifle around it. Bought a $650 Tikka, and sold the barrel and stock for like $100 combined. So yeah, with the FFL transfer, I'm calling it a $600 action when all is said and done. Now I just need to sell my body on the street corner to raise money to turn it into a PRS specific rifle...

The internal weights on the Ace Target forend are 200 grams each, so if you used all 7 Mlok slots you’d add 1400 grams, not 400, for a total of 3.1 lbs. They work great, their only problem is that they’re ridiculously expensive. I added a couple, then added pairs of Salmon River Solutions offset forend Mlok weights. They don’t interfere with the Arca rail, so my Accutak bipod moves easily, the weights are cerakoted and reasonably priced, and I got another 2+ lbs there and have room to add 36 oz more if I want, but doubt I will; it’s heavy enough. With a pound of the Tikka rear stock weights, a 2 lb scope with heavy ARC rings, a 1.6 lb MDT Arca weight, brake, and 1.5 lb bipod, I’m right around 19 to 19.5 lbs and pleased with the setup for a PRS rifle. I’d build something else for NRL.

Obviously other’s mileage may vary, but if I wanted a rifle over 20 lbs I’d have bought something different, or spent more and built a rifle up from scratch with chassis, action and barrel. I get the weight advantages, but frankly think it starts to get slightly over the top after a while. (Or maybe it’s because I can’t get too worked up over 6.5CM recoil in a 20 pound stabilized rifle after shooting 30-06 in a 9.5 lb slung rifle. 🤔)

I may still do that build someday, there are so many great options now, but I wanted this Ace Target. My only small complaints were that they had used actual bottom metal, and that it had a folding stock, which I heard is coming next year. I’m happy with the standard CTR mags which feed very well, sit high and fit tight with no rattle, buying two extra, and won’t bother changing out the well for AICS magazines. I also would have loved a 1.25” barrel rather than the 7/8”, but for the $1699 price for the bronze cerakote think I got a fantastic deal for an extremely accurate rifle out of the box, even after getting bent over on the weights and accessories, but again others mileage may vary. 🤷‍♂️

Keep the CTR mags. Right now may be a good time to stock up since they seem to be $85 at midway for the 308. Fought with AICS mags for a year with my Tikka and couldn’t get the bolt to feed reliably. Would need to press the mags up to get them to feed otherwise the bolt would go over the first round. CTR feeds like butter compared to AICS.

Debating on one of the 223 Ace Target models. Would love to have a cheaper plinker with a long barrel life. Still haven’t decided using an action and just an existing Iota Eko I’ve got laying around.

Thanks, I think that’s good advice. I picked up those two extra on EuroOptic a couple months ago for $78 each, which seemed pricy at the time, but they’ve recently updated their website and I don’t see them now, they probably just relocated the accessories page. Getting extra mags is always a good idea. I also was looking at the .223 Ace Target, maybe the slightly lighter Ace Game in that caliber which would be a fun rifle, but it will be a few months till I can make that happen.

After getting this one setup with a Burris XTR Pro and Accutak WB-5, plus investing in LRF binocs and reloading supplies for the new caliber, I’m on restriction for a while!
