jp supermatch heavy contour

Anyone tried out any of the new 24" heavy contour 6 creed/6.5 creed barrels from JP?

I contacted them about evaluating one and haven't heard anything back.

I know a bunch of guys that are wanting them for this year's PRS Gas Gun Division but aren't ready to pull thier current barrels because there's no real world data behind the new Heavy Contour barrels yet.

yeah, i like that they are heavier but i wish they had one made for their .936 adjustable gasblock because i want a maximum heavy contour because i notice it helps with balance and a good balance point. and it'd be nice to just get a full custom rifle rom jp with that than piece it together myself...im lazy at times hahaha and they warranty it

i shoot one in my 6.5cm ar10. tac drivers past 1000yds true half min gun all day with very little load development.
Nice!!! Just emailed dustin at JP to see if they plan on doing a .936 as well. I love the 22" LRP-07 I shot last year. I'm not a half min shooter but i consistently got sub 3/4 moa and i felt on top of the world shooting that thing.

And an update. They told me the heavy contour is as big as they plan on going and even if they did a .936 GB barrel it'd still be a .875 in front of the GB journal. That's unfortunate because i feel in PRS GG Division there's a place for the extra heavy .936 muzzle diameter barrels

I have a 24" 6.5CM LFAR barrel getting finished up right now. .936 gas block. It's pretty close to an M24 contour and as heavy as we could go for a gas gun barrel. With a Seekins SP-10 builders kit, Magpul PRS stock, JP SCS, BCG, TT diamond, CH, Hawkins updraft muzzle brake, etc..it all weighs 13lbs before a bipod and scope. With a CkyePod and 5x25 in a Hawkins mount it's probably going to be 17lbs. That's almost NRLH weight. I bet if I put an NX8 on it with a CkyePod it would make open heavy. It's still going to need side weights to make basic PRS rifle weight.

JP doesn't really do PRS. Even though some of their employees will shoot matches like Steel Safari, as a company they're still in this 3G/ USPSA PCC space. And it kind of makes sense because a PRS gas gun is kind of a misnomer. It's basically a handicap division like TAC. There's zero advantage to shoot a gas gun in PRS. The stages aren't conducive to it. QP and 3G are disciplines where a gas gun would be a clear advantage over a bolt gun so it makes more sense to people and it makes sense that companies pursue those areas. Hell, just try finding a 936 gas block from JP or Riflespeed.
