Cheap scopes Leupold mk4hd vs Nightforce SHV?

mk4 6-24 is great optic (for its price) if you can score one at discount in the px. I've never been behind the 18x so have no comment. The reputation of NF is build from the NXS and ATACR models, with the nx8s having some fans as well. Those pricepoints aren't going to be accessible at $1k, but occasionally you will find a mk4 in the PX around there.

The SHV F1 is under rated, but I guess it doesn't have the higher mag and bells and whistles of the newer chinese competition that everyone wants now, it is an older design after all.

I've got a fair bit of time on the SHV F1. The main limitation in my opinion is the FOV. It's quite noticeably narrow. Everything else is really good. The turret clicks are muted but clean. Zero Stop is easy. Mil-XT reticle is a new option so reticle is good. I have the Mil-R which was ok. The SHV won't let you down, but it wont blow you away either.

My only concern about the Mk4HD is the reports of QC issues, but that could just be overstated on forums.

How bad is the field of view on lower power?

Im thinking mk4hd but still not sure. I like both scopes lol

Both are great, but it depends on your needs. The Leupold MK4HD is tough with clear glass, but pricier. The Nightforce SHV offers solid performance, better reticle options, and is more affordable. For target shooting, I’d lean Nightforce

Definitely the more reliable Nightforce I wouldn't trust a Leupold on a hunt

For a hunting rifle I'd lean more towards reliability, so NF if I was given those two options. Another option to heavily consider would be Maven RS1.2 2.5-15x44 as well. It would probably beat out both those other options handily.
I'm leaning towards the SHV. I have an old NXS on an AR that I like. I do want to clarify I am looking at the SHV not an NX8/ATCR ect. Would the shv hold up compared to the mark 4 durability wise?

I have multiple F1 SHVs. 3 with MOA and my latest with the MIL-C. I like them for what they are. Fairly good quality at a great price point. The FOV is fairly narrow but very usable through the entire magnification range.

I only put Leupold on 22s.

Looking at a new 4-14 scope debating on the mk4 hd in 4.5-18 or the Nightforce SHV 4-14 F1 model.

Used mostly for target shooting/hunting oldish clear cuts/regen cuts.
I would opt for NF NX8 over the SHV line. And I would go NX8 over the Leupold any day of the week.

Contact @Euro.Connor for an even better deal than listed on the website.

The NXS is as tough as they come.

The SHV has good glass, i dont know if they saved money there, but they saved a little money in the turret construction and assembly. And for more savings they only batch test the SHV once they arrive at the factory in idaho.
