Glock .22 G44...?

Glock .22 G44: experiences...? opinions...? suggested better options...?

I have no experience with the G44. Do you want a Glock specific .22LR to train with? If open to others, Walther and Taurus make pretty solid options. For instance.....

Unless you are looking for a Glock 44 to be a trainer for a higher caliber Glock, there are certainly better options. If you are just looking for a plinker, Ruger MK IV is still one of the best bets out there. If you want higher end, look at Volquartsen.

Ive put over 25k rounds through mine, I can't kill the damn thing. I got it after one of the gun mags boasted that they'd put 10k rounds through it without cleaning and it still going strong. I thought surely this is some Glock fanboy BS. I was proven wrong.

There may be better options if you've got specific requirements, but its a great trainer, and good for beginners.

The ProMag 18rd magazines are terrible though, if you're looking for increased capacity.

No, it’s not “great” and feels daily cheap but it’s a nice little gun that hasn’t really misfed that I can think of. Kids (me) really like just plinking at cans 10 yards away. Won’t win any accuracy contests or steel challenge etc

I have number 66 of the first run, been run hard and just keeps running. A great trainer for the other Glocks . Wish it would come in a MOS but as I hate the Glock mos system maybe not bad thing .
The promag 18 rounders can be finicky but out of 5 I have 3 that run perfectly. The only promag anything that I’ve ever had run well.
Shoot a lot of critters with the G44 . Works WAY better than any conversion kit I’ve ever tried .

If you're a Glock guy, it's a great inexpensive trainer. Mine has ran fantastically with a plethora of ammo from, old Wildcats, Lightnings, Vipers... even Blazer stuff ran fine.

I looked at a G44. What really turned me against the gun was its weight, of lack there of to be more specific. I don’t see how a gun that light could be a good trainer, at least for me.

Complete turd in my opinion and I do a lot of Glock work lately. I own and carry Glock myself and would not recommend the 22LR

Always planned to get a G44, then heard Taurus was decent for the $ but couldn’t resist last month when I saw a Keltec P17 for $180+tax at Academy. Ugly little puke eats everything, accurate enough plinker and makes a nice host for the Oculus. Probably not a serious target pistol (my M41 & MkII scratch that itch) but pretty fun for the $.

My g44 has been flawless. It’s not a “fun” gun in my opinion. It’s a trainer. There are so many other 22s that are better for fun and competition. I own a few of the rugers and my favorite 22 plinked is the Taurus tx22, it actually is amazing!

If you want Glock platform it’s great, otherwise I think there are better options.

If it’s the gun I’m thinking about, when it came out it was a complete turd. Only has 10rd mags, Tarus has 16, if that’s important. Perhaps it has gotten better, though?

Did a bunch of research when I was in the market when the G44 was introduced (~2020), and had prev bought some Walter 22LR pistol that was so bad that the gun shop allowed me to return it. Swapped to a Ruger MKIV tactical only because it was in their inventory. That is a great gun, but only 10rd mags as well and it’s a whole different grip angle and weight.

Even the glock fanbois seem to suggest the TX22?

Honest Outlaw’s first look review does not start out well and he ultimately wasn’t a fan at the vid’s end. I can’t find his 1000rd review…perhaps he disliked it enough not to even complete his 1000rd test? Dunno.


Anyway, that’s what I recollect and what I’ve dug up. Guys that have actually owned it will probably have more valid and up-to-date info for you.

Checkout the Sig P322. Full sized gun with three 20 rd mags, a threaded barrel, and a holster.

I purchased a g44 shortly after they were introduced. I was told the design team used blazer ammo for their testing (I don't know if this is true). This worked out well as I had/have thousands of rounds of blazer 22 ammo. My particular sample has never had a hiccup. No failure to feeds, no failure to eject, and out of 2000 rounds I've only had 4-5 failure to fires, which I blame on the ammo

It goes with me almost everyday and I have plenty of holsters for it as it is compatible with the g19.

I have the exact same setup that I bought on Black Friday for $170 and as ugly as that piece is, it sure goes bang every time. I’ve been putting a hurting on the varmint in my residential backyard with the oculus and the Neighbors are none the wiser
