22" is pretty long for what most people want out of a small-frame semi/precision/DMR style AR15; which is kind of what the 6 ARC is targeting.
If you're prepared to lug around a 22" pipe you'd probably strongly consider larger cartridges. I'd imagine most buyers for this barrel ordered in 16", 18" or 20".

Yea, I went from a 18” to a 14.5” and I don’t think I’d go longer than 16” from here on. Pretty happy with the performance and overall length of the 14.5” and see no need to change it up. That said, 18” is the sweet spot if you’re trying to maximize the cartridge while also keeping it from being too long.
For barricade competitions:
Heavy barrels > light barrels
Brakes > suppressors
Longer barrels are heavier than shorter barrels
Thicker barrels are heavier than thinner barrels
It's hard to get enough weight on a AR (small or large) platform after a certain point so if you want to build a 20lb competition rifle with minimal recoil you need to add additional weight wherever you can. A 22" barrel is short compared to the 26" 6BRs, GT's, etc that people use in the reg in PRS.

If I were a MD I would have at least 2 stages every match where you shoot through a pipe. So the brake shooters can have fun too

I like the 22" barreled idea, but with only a .750 gas block I can see where the market segment would be limited. I bet sales were just much slower than expected. Probably just a few dedicated coyote hunters.
It is something of a backwards Goldilocks...too light for sustained target use, too long for guys who want to run suppressed in tight spaces etc...

Not a ton. For those uber-small diameter handguards though, that .125 can very well make a difference between them flexing under recoil and making contact, or not, and don't ask me how I learned that one the hard way after chasing accuracy issues for hundreds of rounds and two barrels.
That .125 is probably the equivalent of running a magnum sporter contour on a target gun instead of a medium palma.
Plus for some guys, those few ounces of weight savings are what they seek...and that contradicts a 22" barrel...which is why I think it probably wasn't popular enough to keep producing.
I could be way off though.
Burt, I am popping by my LGS that has good stock on Proof barrels. I'll check to see if they have that 22" Steel 6 ARC for you.
Not everyone can justify spending $1000 or so plus a $200 tax stamp just to be "cultured". Especially those of us that are newish to shooting and competing.
There's a lot of things on my wish list and a quality suppressor is one of them, but it's going to be a while before I can afford one and there are other items ahead of it on the priority list.
There's a lot of good information on this site, but also a lot of elitist attitude like this that gets tiresome quickly and honestly could be turning people off to this community. Is that what we really want to be doing here?

Don't price yourself out in the can market, we are in the golden age of suppressors and traditional baffles are pretty well figured out. A polonium or enticer for half that would be a workhorse that you would not regret

Nobody is going to persecute you for not using a suppressor, especially if you are out shooting by yourself. The suppressor fans though may, however, give you a little ribbing here and there.
Build as you go, and enjoy the ride.
