As someone that was just scammed out of $400 buying from an established members account that was hacked…..can’t 2FA be a requirement?

Or at least for anyone who’s able to sell here?

    "can’t 2FA be a requirement?"

Can't people take the simple precautions when purchasing that have been discussed on this site at least 500 times.

I am 2 factored here but seriously....you seem to be asking for actions (an imposition?) by others because you couldn't take reasonable precautions?

Maybe I'm off base....you haven't described the process (or lack of it) that you took during this attempted purchase but, on the face of it, it does seem like you want others to do something to make up for slack on your part.

    Sorry for your loss. Truly.

Did you insist on a video chat or at least a phone call before handing over money to a screen name on the internet you obviously have never dealt with before?

Wouldn’t 2FA prevent us from having to do all the gymnastics?

It seems to work for security, it’s not hard to turn on and use.

Otherwise we will continue on this slippery slope of DNA tests and only face to face transactions. They’ll get smarter, we will pile more and more “checks”.

    Or….2FA.

Being lazy is what got you into this problem.
Being lazy is what will perpetuate the problem.
2FA is fine and all but it will only be a speed bump for the many large criminal gangs that work to steal money on this & other sites.

Doing the work of a video chat, or at least a phone call before you hand over any amount of money you don't mind losing, will go a long way towards keeping the problems at bay.

If everybody on here demanded a video chat, buyer or seller for everything from someone they weren't already very familiar with, the scammers would have a very rough time doing anything.

I have said before that I think mandatory 2FA would be a great step, if possible and practical for the staff.

Though I can see how some low IQ and technically challenged “members” would find this daunting….

    Decisions, decisions……
