PVA now offering AR15 barrels!

I ordered a 6ARC 20” fluted on Nov 26 and im still waiting to get the shipment email. Hopefully soon though, ready to get it together and het a load worked up as weather will be getting more pretty over the coming weeks.
I'm cutting flutes on the AR barrels as we speak. I'm behind on fluting, a LOT of folks sprung for flutes in the sale pricing. I'm certainly not complaining but it seems like that was the hot ticket item this year and we're definititely working on fixing that chokepoint in the AR barrel process.

Called and spoke to someone at your shop yesterday about the status. Things happen and I understand that. This will be my first PVA product and im ready to get it in and start load development. Yall have been responsive when I call and I appreciate that.

I feel like these are worth the wait. I just got confused when someone up thread said that these were a ready to ship item. Then I started to wonder if I got lost in the shuffle.
The base SKU's are ready to ship. IE 223W's and as we catch up, the 6mm and 22 ARCs. However fluting and matched bolt versions adds time to do the extra steps involved in getting them out the door. Sorry that wasn't clear before, we're working on it.

Any plans to offer AR10 barrels as well? Looking to do a 25 Creed...

@bohem - Still keeping my fingers crossed for a 16” 223 Wylde with an intermediate gas system and 5/8x24 threads. I’m still scratching my head wondering why no companies are offering this set of specs.
SOLGW comes close with their newish SPR barrels, 16" Wylde, 5/8x24 threads, 416R, but I believe they are standard mid-length gas.

That's the big deal breaker though.

I doubt we'll do 25's just due to the fact that there's not enough call to make a batch of them. If you want to help put together a 25 creed GB shoot me an email and we can discuss it for a launch in about 3 months.
A 16” rifle gas .308 would be cool….
AR10's are being planned for mid summer, probably just 308 and 6.5 Creed to start.

They're in process now, using the Noveske spec IM gas system. I'm still trying to find a realiable source for 100 gas tubes.

How are y’all liking your PVA barrels so far? I’m waiting for the intermediate gas 16’s but I’m curious what kind of groups others are getting.

Mines still shooting really good with handloads. 0.5" groups or less every time I tested a load with 77's from my mechanical rest and rear bag to see how it performed in the barrel. So the barrel is capable if you do your part.

I have no info on how they shoot factory ammo... only handloads

I only have about 70ish rounds through my 20” 6ARC, so im still breaking it in and haven’t done any load development yet. Here is a pic of the first few groups it put down at 100 yards. 87gr vmax and a stiff load of Varget. Barrel had less than 20 rounds on it and those smaller orange dots are 3/4”

3 shot group on the small left dot and 5 shot group on the small right dot(you always have to pull one).

We just finished up a batch of AR barrels (I apologize for how long it took us)

We have 223 Wyldes in the usual 16/18/20 and we added 16" with Intermediate length gas (using the Noveske spec IM). I didn't make a ton of those so we could see how they would sell, but we do have about 2 dozen available currently.

223 Wylde
22 ARC
6mm ARC

My 6 arc Osprey ar-15 barrel just showed up today! I will try and post some pics from the borescope once I take a look but first impressions are very nice machine work, etc on the outside. No close on the field gauge and a nice tight close on the go gauge with headspaced rubber city bolt. Great work @bohem!

I still need to put the gun together and fire form some virgin alpha brass but that will likely happen after the Holiday weekend.

Finally got the borescope out, very very nice especially in the throat area, nice clean crown, etc.. Better machine work than the Criterion Core that I have on hand. Pic quality kinda sucks, sorry about that. These are screenshots of a video file.

Any thoughts of doing large frame AR barrels? 6.5cm? @bohem ?

PVA has been doing large frame gasser barrels for a LONG TIME.

They have done multiple 6.5cm gasser barrels for me, Bartlein and Rock Creek cut rifled. Absolutely hammer. With the right load they shoot sub 0.5" with various bullets and powder

All at 100yd

140 ELD H4350

123L Scenar H4350

130 ELD Varget

Nice! I guess I was just looking at their RTR stuff.

We have done a few over the years, it's not a regularly listed item because of how the market is with that product... more of a "you gotta know the chef" situation for a while.

Now that the AR15 barrels are stable in production we're working on two things further; the AR15 with some select 473 case body options and also getting large frames into production for the 6 and 6.5 creed.

Quick status on AR barrels in general

In Stock:

223W 7tw and 8tw 16" mid length gas
223W 7tw 16" IM gas, based off Noveske spec length (@Leicafan1990 you asked for it ;)
223W 7tw rifle gas, 18 and 20"
22 ARC 18 adn 20" with Rifle +2 gas
6 ARC 18 and 20" with Rifle +2 gas ---> These are almost out of stock, more are already planned.

I've posted some pictures lately on social media with reports from extremely happy customers shooting the 223W's and 6 ARC into exceptional groups at 100 and 600 yards using box ammo. The 22 ARC's are shooting similarly well but it's not as popular as the other two calibers for whatever reason.

The following are in production:

Small Frame
224 - 7tw for 223W and 22 ARC and 224 V (anyone wanting a 224 V email me, it's not a regular chamber we cut).
6mm - 7tw for 6 ARC

Large Frame
308 10 twist Rifle Gas, up to 22" long
6.5mm 7.5tw Rifle+2 Gas, up to 24" long
6mm 7tw Rifle+2 Gas, up to 24" long

These will be open for order in a length and caliber option but 1 contour (the contour is really the bastard of making AR barrels). So for large frame stuff you will be able to pick from say 6 GT, Creed, etc or 6.5 Creed, 260, x47, etc.

I'm not planning at this time to open the large frame caliber options up to mag bolt face.

Is the gas tube included with the 16” IM length barrels?
If needed Go here and order an intermediate length tube for $14:

Still breaking the 6 ARC barrel in (only 50 rounds down the barrel so far) but we definitely have a shooter….Props to @bohem for a job well done!

Note as expected this barrel has a very tight match grade chamber. Stripped headspaced Rubber City bolt closes extremely tight on the go gauge but I had to bump the shoulder on new Alpha brass about 3-4 thou so it would chamber without too much resistance.

Measurements from shoulder bump gauge:
New: 1.175”
Bump in order to chamber easily: 1.171”
After firing: 1.176”

This is a 18” barrel with +2” gas so dwell time is short. I was using a sprinco white spring with H1 buffer but I need to switch to carbine buffer due to it ejecting ok but not picking up the next round or locking back.

This group is from shots 41-50:

Not currently, they're standard parts and we couldn't buy enough of them (MOQ 500pc) to get dealer pricing that works for a package price.

Sorry to hijack the AR thread - I spoke with you about a 7prc to replace a 6.5 sherman max that is toasty. Turns out I have too many components for the 6.5 to not do one more barrel - about 400 brass, jug and a half of n570, jug of rl33, and about 1500 153.5's... plus a bunch of Badlands 135 solids.

So, will you update the site when your 6.5 Max B reamer is in, or can I still order the A reamer (not listed)? Thanks!

Looking forward to that 6cm barrel. I've got a large frame upper and lower that needs to be worked on!

It's up on the website as "6.5 SWC "B" now.

I'm kinda tempted to build another one, we're having a lot of fun with the test barrels.

Nice shooting! When you change the spring and get it feeding some of that vertical will probably go away too.

Slight thread jack but I bought the PVA Rolland special looking barrel/comp and was shocked at how effective it is. Glock 19 feels like a 380 with +p gold dots and cycles great with all my stuff. I was really surprised.

Does anyone have a series of 5x5's or several 10 shot groups with these barrels?
3 shot groups might be an indicator, but surely need some additional verification.

MM
I just posted a 10 shot group upstream. Since Im still breaking the barrel in (only 50 shots so far) I wasn’t really shooting for groups but was delightfully surprised when I shot a sub MOA group so I figured Id post it. I pretty much always shoot 10 shot groups so ill continue to post them here after my range trips. Need to make more ammo. Here it is again:

I thought there was talk in the thread about large frame barrels.
The talk was "they're coming end of summer, we're testing now"

IE: it's not on the website to order something because it's being tested.

The PVA IG page has a number of various 5 shot groups and 8-10 shot groups posted as well as this thread has several 10 shot groups posted (look up about 10 posts from your own for one of them). Most of them with factory ammo.

Is there anything special you've had to do to get the 6CM to cycle properly? I've heard of people having issues with the 6CM for whatever reason.
This is one of the things we're testing now, but when it's sorted we won't be advertising how to make it work all over the internet.

Glad you like it! The G19 barrels it was developed for are quite the product as well.

I grabbed a PVA 22ARC barrel back when they were doing their black Friday sale. I just now got around to getting everything slapped together and had a few minutes to burn so I ran out and got it on paper real quick.

Of course I forgot my allen wrenches to adjust my turrets, but luckily it was close & shooting about 6 to 7 inches high at 100.

That’s the first four round group at 100 yards with factory Hornady Black ammo (shots 3-6 out of barrel,) I was not trying very hard on my end to shoot a tight group, but it did anyway.I’m not a factory ammo guy, but I bought a bunch just for some testing and brass.

Well, done, Josh! This thing is going to be a hammer!
