Im looking at getting into a 6mm cartridge bolt gun (6gt or 6dasher..havent decided between the two) to primarily shoot some local PRS matches.

I know the MPA factory builds with the CDG action are a very good deal especially with the PRS discount code. I really like the matrix pro2 chassis, but im not married to it (or even a chassis for that matter). I'm not opposed to buying an action/prefit barrel and "assembling" this, but I've never done that before. Looking up some of the costs of components it almost seemed like a much better deal to go with something like the MPA, and I wouldn't have to deal with assembly.

Anything else in that $2400-3k I should be looking at?

    Thanks in advance.

If you don’t mind tinkering and buying used then buy from the px here. Tons of setups especially chassis and what not there. Probably better deals and loaded with weights/accessories compared to buying new. Probably can find a suitable action as well and just have a barrel spin up of your choice

It is hard to beat the old Origin/Solus action with barrel of choice, dropped into a chassis of choice, and use a trigger of choice. It has very much become the basic combo... maybe not fancy, but hard to get wrong.
Im pretty much going this way; origin with a proof prefit, KRG chassis, and a TT trigger and it’s the easy button.

Easy and 'least expensive' button... but still an excellent combination that'll not leave you needing more. Best of luck man.

I'll probably end up with another Origin in the next couple years.

My friend just built me a solus obsidian with a blue mountain benchmark and TT diamond in a 17” solus chassis. Shoots sub-0.5 MOA 10 shot groups, which i believe is the MPA guarantee. I do still love the look of the ARC action. If the wait time wasn’t so long, I would have just bought the MPA.

I do hear that the ARC CDG throws brass forwards though. That would be very annoying at matches. My solus ejects into a perfect little pile at 4 O’clock roughly half a mile away.

Solus with a high-quality prefit in a good chassis and a TriggerTech Special will do all you need it to, and won't break the bank.

Here's a group from one of mine...

Solus action, Blue Mountain Precision Proof CF 20" 7.5" twist .25CM barrel, TT Special, Solus 15" Comp Chassis...Shooting on sandbags.

Thats a typical 5 round group? Very solid. Maybe i will grab a solus when they do their black friday sale.

True. Because it’s mechanical ejection, how fast and hard you work the bolt affects the ejection angle and distance. In a slightly slower belly ELR situation, I can make my LA brass land in the case most times. In a fast paced pressure situation, the SA brass will get thrown forward of 3:00.

Kelblys just brought out a PRS rifle that once they sell 50 will meet all the production requirements. If I know anything about Kelblys the fact they have over 82 confirmed world records confirms they known what they are doing and produce quality products. They are also offering 10 percent off just use the code guncon25 not positive how long that will be good but I know Gun Con is June 28th in Ohio. I attached a link direct to the Element Rifle, they have a pretty sweet setup you can build completely out with optic, brake and bipod even. I actually have one on order myself and can't wait to get my hands on it. The rebarrels are even a bit cheaper than MPA we all know if your a PRS shooter ever little bit you can save adds up.

Very nice, what caliber did you go with?

6br been shooting that caliber for awhile now and it's pretty hard to go wrong with it. But I really don't think any 6mm is wrong for PRS. The Dasher is super popular I know.
One thing you said that kind of struck me. If i get the MPA with the CDG action, why would i need them to rebarrel? Couldnt i just order a prefit for that action? I dont think youre the first person that has mentioned that, and it just sunk in.

    Thanks

Yes, you can absolutely buy prefits for the CDG action and spin them on yourself. That’s how I built my 7PRC. Maybe not every prefit barrel maker will offer them, but most of the good ones do.

If one is trying to stay in the production class of prs competition then it needs to have a "factory" barrel on it. I imagine they should be able to ship that factory barrel to your door though, shouldn't need to have the action returned to them for that.
Otherwise, sure, get it from anywhere you trust.

Yeah, it looks like you can buy a prefit from them for your PMR “factory” rifle.

That makes sense. Thanks for the clarification.

So I am a bit slow on the reply but if looking at the production class PRS. It must be a factory rebarrel, MPA and Kelblys are the only companies that build a rifle fitting the production class or will fit once they sell 50 of them and will send you a barrel to install yourself which falls within the rules so long as its the one they offer on their production rifles. The others like savage, ruger or even GA you need to send rifle back to be rebarreled. I wont lie I currently own a MPA Matrix PRO PRM but have a kelblys on the way. I dont see how you can go wrong with them.

Well, ended up grabbing this deal on the PX. Not sure which barrel I'll keep!

Also, lol im an idiot and am definitely getting spammers messaging me about payment. I shouldn't have put that in the ad, but I didnt want to miss grabbing the deal publicly.

Ill report back once I get it out and shoot it! Thanks for all the suggestions.
