Looking for a truck gun

I get it. My “truck guns” are 16” 223wylde or 18” 6.5 Grendel small frames. Both fit under the rear seat of a 4door Chevy with a LPVO or full sized optic. Neither have any question of legality. Neither require notification to cross a state line. It’s just easier.
Yep, I'll take that any day; I have Sylvan folding stock adapters on a couple as well. They work fine for reducing length for transportation if that's a consideration as well.

Hard to beat the deal EuroOptic has on the ALG rifles right now. $849

IMO a 16” carbine fits the “truck gun” role just fine.

It looks like a number of the Super Duty rifles have come down in price, too. I don’t know if I feel more sad about clicking the link you posted or having already spent my gun money for a while.

My "truck" gun (actually any vehicle) is a 14.5" Geiselle Super Duty with a 1-8x Sig LPVO.

I don't want a pistol & I don't want an SBR; the 14.5" is good enough at any kind of CQB & can easily handle 250 yd engagements, or longer, if you know your dope & are capable.

JMHO, YMMV

1) CQB is an offensive tactic you should be on the defense looking to get out of the situation or at least stationary.
2) Why would you be engaging someone at 250 yards? far from an urban threat.

They just released full ambi lowers for the GFR. I will ask Bill in a few weeks when I see him if they plan to make the super duties ambi as well. That may be why they are discounting them. The factory is going full blast right now and they can't expand fast enough. The MRGGS contract is no joke.

That looks to be the best deal going right now for someone who doesn't care to build. Helluva a good deal.

Yep you can get a full super duty mod1 upper right now for around $1,000 from scopelist, AR15Discounts, etc.

I built a truck gun last year and wanted to keep it as cheap as possible in case it got stolen ,even used a 80% lower so if it was used in a crime later it couldn't be traced back to me. Used the AR pistol format 5.56 , don't remember the upper but was probably a PSA or Anderson to keep the cost down , 10.6 in barrel, about 500 rds down range and no problems, that being said , I'm going a different direction for my other vehicle, got a S&W fpc in 10mm coming, it will use the same mags as my S&W m&p 10mm pistol that I will also carry , will have a little more $ invested in it than the AR platform but I like the idea of mag compatibility, I'm sure I'll get dragged for the bargain level parts on the AR but it's worked fine so far and it will probably never see more than 1500 rds

I'm so proud in how far we've come.

We've already covered well before the end of page 2:
- It shouldn't be a piece of shit in case its readily accessible nature requires it to be put to use
- Nuances in regional/state laws
- Nuances in ranges/types of use in various regions
- Consideration of theft

Who gives a shit about theft. That's what insurance is for. Ideally a truck or stash gun is something I initially test then don't touch for years. Swap batteries in aimpoint every year but other than that it's broken down and/or stashed Something that's going to rattle around, collect dust, go through extreme heat and cold cycles and at the time of greatest desperation...is going to function flawless when I need it to most. Something that your life may depend on.

By all means use some cheap hunk of shit mixmaster made with rejected OEM parts. It's your life that you consider worthless, so why should anyone else care. Just another form of natural selection.

And it'll never be anything but a pistol, with all of a pistol's limitations.......................those don't go away just because it's a 5.56.

Some dilletante will say we need to know exactly what kind of truck, and what terrain it will inhabit. And what is its interior layout, specifically. And does it need a rattle can job to match the interior, or the landscape outside?
