House Budget Proposal to remove Tax on Suppressors but not remove it from the NFA

I think it passed the house. Sure seems to still be in the bill, but the legal language is a little opaque to me.

Go here to see the whole bill, and then do a browser page search for the term “$200” and add a space after the $200 otherwise it’ll find a bunch of $200,000 terms.

That is essentially the same language that was in there before. Meaning, you still have to register, but $0 tax.

Someone, somehow, will argue that the tax was not removed. It was merely adjusted down to $0. And, by that token, the NFA registration is still the (constitutional) way to track who has paid the $0 tax.

No need to argue, that is the way it is. Registration remains.

HPA and SHORT were blocked.

  • $200 tax stamps for suppressors, SBRs, SBSs, and AOWs reduced to $0 starting January 1, 2026.
  • NFA process and registry remain—for now. Forms, fingerprints, and approvals still required.
  • Full deregulation (HPA & SHORT) was blocked by the Senate Byrd Rule.
  • Senate compromise: Free tax stamps, but not full removal from the NFA.

I’m looking ahead to the continued fight to remove silencers and short things.

“See, no tax. No no registration.”

“No, the tax remains. It’s just a $0 tax. Registration remains…”

I just donated money to Massie. He is one of very few principled members in either house. And he called out AIPAC directly. FARA? Oh no, not us, we're special.
"Sea Island" bobo Massie, huh. Massie is just a globalist stooge.

Only Republican Reps. Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-Ukraine) and Thomas Massie (KY-Sea Isl) joined Democrats in opposition to the bill.

Sea Island, GA, is a go-to place for those who operate in the background of U.S. politics. Similar in purpose to Jackson Hole, WY. Sea Island serves as an East Coast meeting place where the globalists strategize and the paid for performance politicians are given instructions.

The Sea Island Summit has always been the DeceptiCon gathering of Wall Street elites to cloister themselves and plan a strategy to protect their interests from the base of republican voters.
The only people invited to the gathering are the self-described UniParty elites who view their power as a position to rule the proles. The Tea Party and MAGA community have long been the pebble in the shoe of the Sea Island group.

Principled, maybe, but he is the definition of letting perfect be the enemy of progress. Guy votes against everything to the point of being fucking useless. Nobody even bothers to try and negotiate with him anymore.

Well from what I can tell he clearly stated his objections early in the process, and stood by his position all the way through. And I agree with him that our government is basically broke, but will just continue to spend us into ruin. 1Trillion for defense (ridiculous) 178 billion for ICE (more than most countries total defense budget), 1.2 trillion in interest on the debt which will just keep increasing. No doge cuts. Yay planned parenthood got cut (789 million). Winning!

Why do the Republicans ALWAYS "compromise" and not just push shit through like the other side always does. Oh yeah, there isn't really two sides, just a bunch of smarmy sellouts.

Because there is no public support for the cuts necessary to do anything to the debt on either side of the aisle, and with the majority being thin, Republicans in purple districts hold outsized leverage.

Ask anybody whether the government should cut spending or not, a large majority will say yes. Now ask them what should be cut and suddenly that consensus vanishes.

Serious spending cuts were never going to happen. It was always guaranteed to be a shit sandwich bill. The only thing you can do is fight for more sandwich than shit.

Thomas Massie, R-Ky., and Brian Fitzpatrick, R-Pa., were the sole defectors against Trump's "big, beautiful bill."

Unseat these bastards .

America First!

Only two with any stones. Your basically saying to hold to your word is a worthless value. That is one of the key problems in society today, most people’s word is absolutely meaningless.

Consider the fact that before sending this to the Senate the House agreed on minimum standard for what could pass. Then to meet the timeline they all caved on this fat pork filled bill. If you want to try vote some out start with those that pushed this version of the bill so hard.

The entirety of the left voted against this bill, so why the fuck are we compromising. We should have balanced the budget, cut Medicare, Medicaid and social security and all the other entitlement programs. The entire NFA should have been eliminated! That cunt parliamentarian should be out on her ass! When the left has power they go for broke on everything they want. The right needs to start actually fighting. Yes, there is good in the bill but it’s just another business as usual bill. Some good mixed with a bunch of waist and nonsense.

I like Trump, he’s doing a lot of good but he was wrong in the way he pushed this. He should have said at least cut the deficit by 50% this year. He should have set far higher standards for this and said anything less and it gets vetoed.

You must remember that many people on both sides will gladly eat a soggy shit sandwich for the sole reason that the other side doesn’t want them to.

You definitely don’t understand what actually pays down the national debt and have bought a number of the democratic talking points completely.

Massie took an early position and stayed with it. he wasn't bought or scared off of it. that has value IMHO. the lt voted against it because they are the lt and would object to anything that smacks of America 1st,even a little.
1 tril for DOD is not America 1st,its MIC 1st. going to war with-pick a ME country-is Israel 1st as usual. maintaining 100s of bases in (?) how many foreign countries is not America 1st. again MIC and Israel 1st. increasing ICE budget is not America 1st when the doj, fbi, atf, cia remain in existence. the army needs to be used here which would be defense of America 1st.
takes effect 1/1 so don't look for any "tax cuts" this year. the increased revenue alleged from all the claims made are likely pipe dreams based on "it should happen" wishful thinking.
the 2 most urgent things threatening America are the 20 mil foreign invaders OBiden let in and 37,prob 50,tril $ in debt. the debt needs way over 50% drop in spending. the invaders need to be dealt with as armed foreign enemies,in other words shot on the spot. sending them away in a 747 to somewhere is not America 1st.

I don't see how this has anything to do with Democrats increasing the tax in the future. Congress could have, and can, change the tax any time they want. They could have done it under Biden.

Unfortunately you are so common in the 2A community. Republicans who stabbed us in the back here, were thinking of you when they did it.

This was a generational opportunity. One we will likely NEVER see again. The ability of 2A gun owners to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory is worthy of study. It is really amazing.

I can’t tell if folks like you are coping or if we have a serious IQ deficiency within our ranks. Seriously. Gun owners en masse should be on fire today, letting Republicans know how bad this will be for them.

The idea that the ‪ASA, NRA, FPC and Second Amendment Foundation‬ put out a collective statement applauding this, tells you everything you need know. No organization that publicly supports this fiasco will ever see another dime or support from me. EVER.

These politicians do not fear us at the voting booth. We are weak and feckless.

Once we actually mattered.
