Night Vision Sig ECHO CV25 LWIR 640x512 Thermal Clip-On

I have one, hopefully next weekend i will get a chance to go after some dogs, weather permitting. the last time out it wasnt set to recoil record so no videos, havent had any issues with collimation. with regards someone commments about the sig bdx app in these thngs, a short video of my friends sv50 22 creed with the bdx.

image isnt bad using a sig tango6t 1-6, are you taking about the sig sv35 lrf, ya to be honest the built in rangefinder and the sig bdx app makes my friends sv50 a gamechanger for him hunting yotes at night. lack of a lrf on the echo cv25 is a big loss

Yea just due to price point looking at the sv35. I’m just stuck between getting a clip on to have the option across multiple rifles vs having a dedicated. There’s part of me that says having the option to throw thermal on my go too defensive set up would be a benefit if I ever wanted that capability but I know having a stand alone unit will be a physical better unit especially with built in LRF

I have a bering super hogster as well, but again lack of an lrf makes range estimation very difficult, no issues with the cv25 but getting rid of both and just having a sv35 on a dedicated platform for thermal hunting is sounding a lot more appeasing.

Having gone LRF, can't go back. Would be like giving up HVAC.

My Sig CV25 has shipped and I hope to get it this weekend.
Keep us posted. I'm very interested in this unit.

It's interesting I'm on the opposite side of the fence. I had a LRF Pulsar trail years ago and the LRF is super nice I just don't want to build a dedicated rig. I want to hunt with my stuff in the day and night. Maybe this venture will prove me wrong with the DNT Hydra. I'm kind of wanting to pick up a CV25 in 2026 though.

My LRF is day-n-nite

I have not attached the Sig CV25 to my rifle, but I have taken them out for spotting purposes out to 700yds. I think the Telos is awesome in clarity and picture quality. The sig however is pretty darn close. In some aspects, the image is better in the sig. I think it comes down to a couple things. The screen is bigger in the Telos so that is deceptive in terms of feel/experience (i like that). They both have really good detail pick up but the telos contrasts are brighter so it feels better, but the sig has softer contrasts but more fine detail detail. Just harder to pick up those details until your eye gets used to the sig. I was trying to adjust the contrast and brightness to make them equal an after doing so, I felt they were the same quality. The sig is weighty but I like it. It is small in my hand which I feel the telos gets too big feeling after a while. The telos is a true spotter and excels at that. But i don't like the size. The sig fits nicely in a pouch. I got the sig because of the warranty. I am not an influencer or vlogger. I am just a dude. I also like the buttons on the sig and the settings. I always get confused on what buttons do what into the telos, I am already good on the Sig. I am not a tech guy so I just want it to work. I don't really like screwing around with settings or diving into the setting menu to find stuff. That's it for now. But I am pleasantly surprised.

If the SIG is actually selling for $4500 - there are less expensive 640 options with LRF

I'm not much of an influencer, and as noted Athlon has given me a loaner for a write up, but I believe I'm going to be writing them a check for it.

you are right about price! That DNT unit looks cool. I won a sig optic cert at a competition and bought the cv25.

Am I reading that right that its base magnification is 6.4x? If so, that sounds awful.

I went to Athlon’s site and found this pdf:

I don’t see the 6.4x anywhere on that doc…not sure where Optics Planet got that. I’m no thermal expert, don’t even own one yet, but that spec sheets says “Digital Magnification: 1x”. I assume that means it has a 1x base mag.

It has 9.5x eyepiece mag. Not sure exactly, but that must mean the eyepiece zooms into the screen like on some other thermals?

I purchased my Steiner C35 Gen II last fall for $1800 on sale from Midway. I know Steiner screwed up by not providing a good mount, etc, etc, but I had no problems mounting it in front of my SB 1-8 Dual CC with a Burris Picatinny Rail Mount reversed. I also can mount it with a 30mm Burris Thermal Smartclip, but I prefer the rail mount.

FWIW, I think the mount situation with the C35 gen II distracted from the quality of the unit itself. As I've said previously, the Steiner shares many specs and features with the Sig, such as 640 sensor resolution, 12µm pixel pitch, and 50Hz refresh rate. The Steiner has ≤ 30mK NETD, while the Sig is ≤ 20mK. The Steiner weighs slightly less. More significant for me is the Steiner's 35mm objective over the Sig's 25mm objective.

I also like the simplicity of the Steiner's on-screen menus. When activated, they appear in a circular display in the middle of the screen rather than around the edges. I find them much faster to adjust than my Pulsar scopes/monos. I've been very impressed with C35's image.

To be sure, the Steiner does not have a LRF, but I have a Telos monocular for ranging. Unfortunately, the price for the Steiner is now $3000+. Optics Planet has a good deal on the Athlon now. I'm tempted to buy and compare.

Pangris, I recall from earlier discussions that you had or have the Steiner C35 gen II. How does it compare to the Athlon? Does the Athlon have a Chinese sensor?
