I Spy New Baby Razor G3 4-24

TT315M with Gen 2 Mildot
Above my pay grade
And that speaks volumes doesn’t it?
Sure? You’ve got a hundred shitty heavy FFP reticles to choose from. I’m glad you’re right in your glory. There’s maybe two that are actually any good the old Bushnell LRHS G2H and the new maven rs1.2 both aren’t perfect but at least you can use them on both ends.
Maybe vortex will roll out a good reticle and I could look past the weight begrudgingly but I have my doubts.

Not my glory but the market and what people want.

Not necessarily, but that’s what’s being produced by and large. Remember comp shooters are a tiny fraction compared to hunters. Mavens seem to be selling very well. I think the bushy was before its time, how long does a 3-12 G2H last for IF it even pops up on the for sale section? Less than an hour. A good crossover scope by a vortex or Nightforce type company I’d bet would do very well.

The little Athlon 2-12 is a nice little crossover scope…

But it’s not your money you are betting with. ;)

Vortex makes the Razor hunting line already. The 4.5-22 Razor LHT is 21.7 ounces and FFP so would they worry about shaving 3-4 ounces off a scope like this? They also make SFP scopes which most worrying about usable reticle from bottom to top in low power optics will use.

Yes it is, I just don’t know how much I trust it being from china. Center dot is a little bit too big but it’s another pretty well done reticle.

Yeah a 4.5 at the bottom end is kinda dumb. That should be 2 or 3 max to start. The reticle on the LHT isn’t great on 4.5 either. They need to redo it.
Yeah I’m aware of SFP scopes, I like FFP. I hold my wind and i like to be dynamic with the power it’s on, im never at max power unless im trying to count points. My point was that it is very possible to make what I’m describing it’s just not being done by many yet. I’m not sure why you want a reticle that’s only useful on one end of the mag range. If all you do is compete then I guess I get it but in a more dynamic use case from thick brush at 25 yards to a field shot at 800 yards a useful reticle on both ends wins.

4.5 is dumb but you are arguing about making a 4-24x scope lighter by 3-4 ounces?

By useful reticle you must only mean seeable as I have never seen a FFP reticle that you can use for holds on its lowest power and especially non with a higher top end. If you did that it would be terrible at the higher powers where most would be using them.

And seeable is easy by turning on the illumination. Higher power reticle are not only usable on the highest. Most are about 8x and up you can use the reticle for holds just those real low 2-4x it’s tough and only used as an aiming point as at 25 yards you won’t be worrying about wind anyways. And again, this scope is not made for 25-800 yard hunting but that said pop that illumination on and it should be no problem.

This one looks like it could be a good fit on my 6arc gasser that needs glass after moving my Zeiss from it to my 6.5 bolt. What is the estimated release time frame?
Has there been any type of release date yet?

No set release date. Was told around third quarter so I would keep an eye out over the next few months.

I didn’t pick the mag range in the baby razor 😂I would have picked 2.5 if it was up to me. Yes I’d like it lighter, I’m not sure why that’s a bad thing.
Correct by usable I mean able to easily see it for closer shots like the G2H donut of death. No not for wind holds at low power, that wouldn’t make any sense. Most MPVO/HPVO don’t have daylight bright illumination, although vortex does a good job mostly with illumination. I’d still argue make a better reticle that doesn’t use illumination as a crutch, it’s really not that difficult.

Maybe someday they will build your perfect scope but not today unfortunately. Power, weight and reticle chosen so nothing can be done.

And yeah the Vortex illumination is good. I use it in the daylight at matches when shooting on darker targets. Helps a lot.
