Hey Guys,

I’ve got / had my Kestrel 5700 Elite for a while and never had this issue.

Currently installed is 1.53

When I open the Kestrel Link Ballistic App it prompts me to install version 1.57

I’ve done it 3 times now, it always says ‘Download Complete” cycles off, then back on and the App confirms the firmware install is complete… but it’s still showing 1.53, not 1.57.

This issue started after I was updating it yesterday when connecting to the app for the first time in a while.

When connecting to Kestrel Link (Mac Desktop Version) it says "no suitable update found" when checking for firmware updates.

If the macOS updater suffers from the same issue the Windows tool does they basically no longer update it because it can't differentiate between the latest hardware revs.
You must use the Android or iOS app now.
I was less than pleased by the back and forth I had with Kestrel support about it at the start of the year. I also prefer to use the USB/optical cable to update.

Funny thing is the Mac software says “no suitable update” where as the iPhone kestrel link app say 1.57 is available but after downloading multiple times and it going through the cycle is boots up with 1.53

I went through this with a friend and his iPhone and a new 5700x.
The possible "jiggle the handle" method to try; place the iPhone in airplane mode then turn on the Bluetooth radio only. Try to stay away from your car or anything else it may try and connect to. During the update process do not let the phone screen go to sleep. This last part hoses firmware updates on Android as well.

The app has already downloaded the firmware on your previous attempt(s) so it shouldn't need internet to finish it.

My Sportsman 5700 goes through the motions but remains at ver. 1.49.:(
Not all versions are for all models. I confirmed 1.57 was applicable to my model (elite). Not sure if that helps.

I was able to find a 1.xx and 2.xx summary of the updates but it’s confusing to me in that both apply but it doesn’t “jump” to the most current update.

Reminds me of several discs being needed to install windows…

Tried it again with the privacy pin toggled on and was successful in getting 1.57. Took a while, though.

It’s taken over 30 minutes every time I’ve tried. Says download complete on the kestrel and app says the kestrel is restarting but doesn’t come through for me. I’ve tried over 6 times now. Leave the phone right next to it and just stare at it… the staring has not helped yet.

Funny story though… kept trying to push a profile to my kestrel at a match. Got frustrated it wasn’t going. Finally broke it down Barney Style and checked the serial number… wasn’t my kestrel.

Small match, said I think I pushed a profile to someone’s kestrel. Was only 4 of us there (early). Only other guy with a kestrel says, “naw, couldn’t be mine I’ve got the privacy pin on”. . . I said you should check. . . He had my profile lol.
