I just pulled the following out of thin air, in a text, to a competitive pistol shooting friend. No joke.

Did you hear that they have redesignated the military sidearm formally know as the

"Colt 1911A1"

Government model pistol... & accordingly, it's classic chambering:

45 ACP
(A.utomatic C.olt
P.istol) cartridge?

Yep.

It's the first weapon in the history of the US DOD weapons arsenal to receive a human'like military service medal of sorts, after (both sidearm and cartridge) has served faithfully for over 100+ years in both military war time & peace, law enforcement, competitive pistol shooting in all conceivable forms & loved as well as relied upon by millions of Americans for personal defense... & last but not least, countless recreational shooters, world wide.???

Yep-

The pistol is now redesignated/ called the:

"19'AARP"

and the cartridge, is now the:

" .45 ASSDEPO. "

ASSDEPO being the official acronym that stands for:

Automatic
Soc. Sec.
Dissability
Entitlment
Pay
Out

[after gran'pa caught your punk self in his shed at 0245 tryna steal his lawn mower; him accordingly following his 'drafted into 'Nam training protocol:

B.R.A.S.S,911.

For the uniformed, "BRASS" is the old school USMC shooting acronym:

B.reath

(while)R.elease(-ing)

A.im

S.queeze

S.hoot.

Let's have a round for such a faithful, long serving veteran of these United States, now formally & correctly honored & decorated!

Cheers!

My EDC. Pic with the watch is before I switched baseplates on my Wilson mags to Dawson Precision. Much nicer.

The gun has some nice finish wear from years of practice coming from the holster. I've thought about having a friend of mine Ceracoat it, but just can't bring myself to do it. It's earned that wear.

Almost forgot, it has the obligatory idiot scratch, from when I first got it and didn't know what I was doing 🤣

Way overrated it’s like a Chevy dually. Yes it’s a truck, but it’s not great. It was good in 1911 and it’s just been okay since.

I loved calling a big manufacturers for their new jam-o-matic and them saying 1000-2000 round break-in before it became reliable. I remember laughing and hanging up on them, telling the customer, and then they immediately sold it.

I put those same grips on my son’s 1911. Found a Sig with a really tight slide-to-frame fit, and spent an entire weekend lapping that in until it was like buttah’…. Then replaced some of the MIM parts with WC guts, and it shoots like a dream; awesome for a $1K gun:

'After several Colts, (including a Gold Cup National Match that was so bad I felt lucky to sell it) and a few other lower priced 1911's, I finally bit the bullet and bought a Dan Wesson Specialist Commander. Hell of a deal, $1479 to my FFL IIRC.

Holy Moly, what a difference. The fit and finish is far superior, and it just seems to know where to send the lead. The trigger is just amazing.

Now I'm lusting after an Ed Brown or Wilson Combat though from what I've read the increase will be less, proprotionatly.

I LOVE my 1911 and show it to my friends all the time. Enemies see my Glock.

The 1911 did not “Win” any war. It was carried in WWII by mostly “special people” It spent most of its time riding comfortably in canvas or leather. My Dad and his brothers never had one, while they busy were laying hate on the German and Japs in the mud, blood and sand with their rifles, carbines and machine guns.

Boomers are literally retarded for believing this story.
They believe that Yamamoto made that "behind every blade of grass" quote.
THere is zero evidence he ever said ANYTHING even similar, and itvis commonly known that Japan NEVER considered attacking mainland US after Pearl Harbor.
Lots of folks fall for saber rattling propaganda.
Such as....Washington was a great evangelical christian......what a hoot.

The actual beliefs of the founders were interesting. Worth looking into. Definately not evangelical types but firm believers in a higher power.

My understanding is that he was misquoted…. He said behind ”any” blade of grass, not every blade of grass.
